A Genealogical Index of Blacksmiths and Related Occupations

Smithing: a smith is a person involved in the shaping of metal objects.

St Clement's Day was traditionally, and in some places, still is, celebrated on the 23 November, a welcome festival between Halloween and Christmas.
Saint Clement is the patron saint of metalworkers and blacksmiths, and so these workers traditionally enjoyed a holiday on his feast day.

Dedicated to my Ancestors

Blacksmiths: Thomas Briggs, Thomas Richards, AlexanderBrown, and Shipwright William Baskett,

This is my personal collection of blacksmiths, cartwrights, wheelwrights, shipwrights, farriers, iron workers and any other related occupations. They are compiled from census records and with the help received from other generous researchers who have shared their ancestors details with me. Thankyou the very patient people at freepages help, especially Barry from New Zealand for his assistance.

I regret I can not offer to research for you - the only information I have regarding your ancestor, is already on this index
