Well I have had a problem with my main index page so I created another one, I am researching quite a few families but am concentrating on the LAWSON family at the time being. My research has started in Southeastern Kentucky and continued from there, in my research my main focus has been on one Alexander Lawson who migrated to Harlan Co. Abt, the years 1840/1845 or near about. This Alexander can be found there in 1850 and the year 1860, and not after 1860 the woman living with him named Susan Lawson who I am to assume is his wife can be found in 1870 around the near family in the County of Clay Ky. 25 Aug 1870 to be exact she is living in the house of one John Neal (spelled Neel here). John Neal can be found in the 1850 Census of Harlan Co. Also, he is the only one to be found in the county. Since Susan is living in the house with them in her old age I am assuming her to be close kin with them her son or daughter, John says he was born in N.C. His wife in Tenn. And of course Susan herself in N.C.
A lot of genealogies put an Alexander of Hawkins Co. Tenn. More than likely the Alexander Lawson who married Susannah Fortner on 16 May 1819 in Surry Co. N.C. One Martin Lawson was the bondsman, that remains to be more looked into to draw any conclusions about this Alexander being the Alexander Lawson of Harlan Co.Ky. However it could be. From the link called Lawson research above we can study this more.
