MRS. WILLIAM PIDGEON, SR. , DIES AT AGE OF 80 YEARS
Emily Ruth Pidgeon, wife of William Pidgeon, Sr., Rochester
merchant, died last evening in the General Hospital, aged
80 years. She
is survived by her husband, two sons, William Jr. and George
Pidgeon, and a daughter, Mrs. F. L. Deline of Buffalo.
Mrs. Pidgeon
was born in Devon, England, and came to America with her
husband in 1872.
They first made their home in Erie, Pa., but in 1879
came to Rochester and have resided here since that time.
Before
her marriage she was Emily Baker.
In 1863 she lived with Lady Lytton, wife of Bulwer-Lytton,
the author, at Taunton, Somerset, England.
She later lived at Old Blundell School at Tiverton,
Devon, the scene of Blackmore’s “Lorna Doone.”
The funeral will take place from the residence of her son,
William Pidgeon, at 14 Alameda Street, tomorrow afternoon
at 2 o’clock.
Burial will be made in Mt. Hope Cemetery.
There is no date on this clipping but her death occurred
