Background of the Surname McCeney

McCeney is a corruption of a Scottish or English family surname.  SNP DNA analysis shows that some of the McCeney family group are of Pictish origin from southern Scotland, arriving around 1500 BC in the early Bronze Age as part of the Beaker Culture. It may be a corruption of  Maxim, Maxham, Maxson, Magson or some other corruption. 

DNA testing shows with a 95% probability that McCeney and Wine share a common ancestor sometime after 1680, and McCeney and Waterhouse share a common ancestor sometime after 1350.

There is only one McCeney Family in the US and they are all related.
