Richard married Naomi Tompsett, daughter of John Tompsett and Elizabeth Wood, on 12 Apr 1752 in St Bartholomew, Burwash, East Sussex.^{1 2} (Naomi Tompsett was born in 1714 in Burwash, East Sussex, christened on 11 Jul 1714 in St Bartholomew, Burwash, East Sussex ^{1 3 5} and was buried on 8 May 1785 in St Bartholomew, Burwash, East Sussex ^{1 3}.)
