Notes for: Thomas Burdine / Bodine

This was from some time ago. I never received an answer to this e-mail. And I have no information to compare it with to tell whether or not this is a case of one line mixed to another. Maybe it will help. Carol Ann:

Thanks for your reply. This is not the same person then that I am looking for. I am not even sure Nathaniel's son's name was Thomas, someone wrote that it possibly could be. Does the 1830 Census name the individuals in the household? Who is the father of John and when was he born, where? When was Thomas Bodine born and where? Do you have brothers or sisters for him? Do you have any children? I have seen the Bodine name used with the Burdine name. Looking forward to hearing from you. Carol Ann

But we find in the 1830 Census in Wilson County, Tennessee is Thomas Burdine, possible son of Nathaniel and Anne, age 30-40, with male five to ten years old, one male twenty to thirty years old, and a female 40-50 years old in the household.

I have no further information on Thomas or his descendants. Can anyone on this list help me? Is there any stories in the County Heritage books that might have information on Thomas and his descendants? Is there anyone on this list who can do a records search for me? Any help or leads would be welcome.

Thomas Berdine was living 1830 in Wilson County aged 30-39. In Dec 1839, Thomas Bodine sold 96 acres to Mark Jackson (Wilson Co. Deed Book S, p. 396). In 1850, Thomas, age 55, and Harriet Bodine, age 35, lived in Montgomery County. On 3 April 1852, Thomas Bodine, age 60, applied in Montgomery County for a bounty land warrant. He stated he served as a Private in the Regiment of Tennessee Militia commanded by Colonel Copeland, in a company commanded by Captain Provine. He was drafted in Wilson County in Feb 1814 and again enlisted as a substitute for Lewis Chambers in the Regiment commanded by Colonel Henderson (BLWT Application 18982-160-50). Company muster rolls show Thomas Bodine enlisted 28 Jan 1814 in Captain Alex Provine's Company, Colonel L. Copeland's Regiment. On 13 Nov 1814, Thomas Burdine enlisted in Captain Chas. Wade's Company, Colonel James Raulston's Regiment.

On 25 May 1852 Thomas Bodine of Montgomery County, appointed Mark Jackson power of attorney to receive proceeds from sale of lands heretofore belonging to "my mother, Penelope Bodine." (Wilson Co. Trust Deeds, pg. 167-168).

Harriet Gillis was 1st married to a Searcy and it was as Harriet Searcy that she married Thomas Bodine in 1843. After his death, as Harriet Bodine, she married William Stephens on 20 Feb 1858 in Montgomery County. In 1860, 'W. Stephens' was living with his family in Montgomery County. His family included Harriet, age 36 and Fredonia, age 14.

Try as I might, I cannot locate this 1850 census entry that shows Fredonia living with her grandmother. The two censuses I do have are:
