Chegwins, or Chigwyns in Cornish, means house wind. 1

Peternell Whitford is listed as the occupier of "Chegwin's" in 1714-1715 at a rate of two pounds. 2

The 1838 apportionment list shows this area containing 27 acres consisting of Chegwins cottage, outhouses, down and new inclosures. Edward Morrish was under-tenant of Edward Coode.
