BONE WILLIAMS YELLAND HILL Betsey Blackmore

BETSEY BLACKMORE BONE WILLIAMS YELLAND HILL
Betsy Blackmore Bone, daughter of Thomas and Frances Blackmore Bone, was christened September 23, 1810 at St. Stephen In Brannel parish church in Cornwall, England.

Betsey Blackmore Bone married Henry Williams in St. Stephens December 12, 1835. This Henry is probably the son of John and Margaret Williams who was christened at St. Stephens July 6, 1806. Henry and Betsey had one daughter, Martha, who was christened June 11, 1836 at St. Stephens.

Henry Williams died in June 1843 at St. Blazey parish and was buried on the 8th of June, aged 36 years.

Betsey remarried October 14, 1848 at St. Stephens to Francis B. Hocking Yelland. He died at age 45 years and was buried July 29, 1855.

The 1871 census of St. Blazey lists Betsey's surname as Hill and that she was a tailoress. Also with her was "daughter" Martha Williams a dressmaker and "grand-daughter" Eliza Williams age 10 years. A marriage record for Betsey Blackmore Bone Williams Yelland and a Mr. Hill has not been located.

The 1881 census of St. Blazey parish lists Betsey as living at Turnpike Village (RG 11, Piece 2300, Folio 68, Page 6). She had reverted back to the surname Yelland and was listed as a widow, pauper and 70 years old. Living with her was "daughter" Martha Williams "unmarried", dressmaker and 43 years old. Betsey's sister, Fanny Bone Mitchell, was also living with her.

Nothing further is known about Betsey, her daughter Martha, nor her grand-daughter Eliza.

As a note of interest a William Williams and Francis Bone (Betsey's nephew) were witnesses at John Russell Bone and Jennifer Scadden's marriage 29 March, 1860 at Camborne. Also of interest is a Henry Williams, 19 years old, was on the same ship to America (1863) as Betsy's nephew, John Russell Bone, and Thomas Scadden.
