Mary Ann, also seen spelled Marianne, Bone was christened August 6, 1816 in the parish of St. Stephen In Brannel. She was the daughter of Thomas and Frances Blackmore Bone.


Mary Ann Bone married Richard Elvans Sweet in St. Stephens the 10th of March, 1838. Richard was the son of Thomas Sweet, a mason. Mary Ann's brothers, Robert and William, witnessed the marriage. Richard was listed as living at High Street and Mary Ann at Coombe. The 1841 census lists them as living at High Street area of St. Stephens. With them are two daughters, Susan age 3 and "Hellen" age 1.

The 1861 census has Mary Ann living at the Cornish Arms Inn on St Austell Road, parish of St. Blazey. She is listed as a housekeeper and a widow. With her are William H age 19, Sandom age 15 and Bessey R. age 12.

Their known children are:

Susan christened 5 Jan 1839 in St. Stephens parish.

Hellen born about 1840, probably in St. Stephens parish. The death records list her as Ellen and that she was buried the 23rd of June in 1841 in St. Stephens.

William H. born about 1842 in St. Blazey parish.

Sandom born about 1846 in St. Blazey parish.

Bessie R. born about 1849 in St. Blazey parish.
