March 26, 1872 James Boyd and wife Catherine, a daughter of Peter Engle of Greenville twp. Pa. sold 179 acres in said twp., James Boyd was at this time living in Lagrange Co., Ind. This was land that Peter Engle had owned at one time. Also, sold land to Jacob Stienla. Book 59. Somerset, Pa.



Use the horse and wagon to follow James and Catherine to Tuscarawas Ohio and then to Indiana.

� The birth records on all but number one John Jr. were found in St. Patrick's Catholic Church Baptismal Records on Maryland State Archives Film #3745 or "Western Maryland Catholics� 1819-1851 by Richard Koch & P. Davidson.
John M. McKenzie's land was sold from his estate to Paul Hoffman in 1864. It states that his tract of land was adjoining lands of Soloman Engle, Frank Bittner and Jesse W. Beal. On John Mckenzie's Deeds it gave Flaugherty Creek as a boundary.

The family went to Minnesota about 1857. His brother Jerry and a Nedrow family made up a party of 14, who came from Pennsylvania by covered wagon. They crossed the Mississippi River on a ferry at Lansing, Iowa. There three of the children, Elizabaeth, James and Lydia came down with typhoid. They stayed the winter with the Sam Shook family.

They were farmers living mostly near LaGrange, Mongo, Brighton, Indiana and Burr Oak, Michigan.

Peter and Elizabeth were buried in the cemetery at Brighton LaGrange Co., In. Their graves are by the west fence near the middle of the cemetery. On Decoration Day each year Peter's grave is marked with a flag.
