OUR FAMILY

IN HONOR OF OUR ANCESTORS
AND FOR THE INSPIRATION OF
THEIR DESCENDANTS

Our Pioneer fathers were brave and strong,
Hewed out their homes from forest wild and deep,
Faced the indians and the winter's storms
With guns by their sides as they fell asleep.

But many years have passed away,
Time swiftly has sped along;
Many whose names are in this book today
Have lived their lives and journeyed on.

Passed to a better land, I know
Free from toil and care.
We that must follow, one by one,
Know we shall meet them there.

Their faces are gone and footprints washed out,
Their voices we no more shall know,
Though we feel their presence as we sit alone
With our dreams and memories of long ago.

Many of our family tree wave in the breeze
As the years both come and go
With their spreading limbs and many leaves
The number we never can know.

'Til we meet face to face in our home above
The eternal home of the soul,
All gathered there with those we love,
While the years of eternity roll.

Written for the Boyd Family History by Mary Boyd
Arnold, lovingly known as Aunt Mate, age at
the time of writing poem 90, March 1, 1956

Thy fathers went down into Egypt with
threescore and ten persons; and now
the LORD thy God hath made thee as
the stars of heaven for multitude.
       Deuteronomy 10:22

The following, a brief genealogy was written quite some time ago to inspire my children, brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews and grandchildren to learn more of their heritage. Since that time I have found a great deal more on Our Family and it's many branches. You may find further information on the branches on the index page. You will find a search engine on that page, which may be helpful to you.

IN MEMORY OF OUR WONDERFUL MOTHER
    HELEN BOYD

    b. March 18, 1906 d. February 20, 2000

    God made a wonderful mother,
    A mother who never grows old;
He made her smile of the sunshine,
And He moulded her heart of pure gold,
In her eyes he placed bright shining stars,
In her cheeks fair roses you see:
    God made a wonderful mother
and He gave that dear mother to me.
