The following, a brief genealogy was written quite some time ago to inspire my children, brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews and grandchildren to learn more of their heritage. FIRST TRACEABLE GENERATION ON BOYD SIDE OF FAMILY..... The first traceable generation were the Graffs, who came from Germany; then into the Rhine Valley and into this Country in 1764..... Johan Peter Graff born 1730 in married Anna Maria Catharina Schneider August 22, 1748 Anna Maria was born the 20th of February 1727 in Siegen Germany. Johan Peter served in the Revolutionary war in Capt. Joseph Hubbley's Company, Third Pennsylvania Regiment as a private from September 1776 to February 1777. Also, Philadelphia Militia August 7, 1777(Pennsylvania Archives) His name is also on the roll of Captain Fisher's Company in German Battalion, commanded by Nicholas Hussecker and Lieutenant Balzel (Maryland Archives) Their daughter, Anna Elizabeth born in Siegen Germany on January 21, 1757, married 1778 Clement Engle b. 1747. Clement Engle and Anna Elizabeth's son, Johan Peter b. 10-17-1780 m. Barbara Garlets b. 1784 Johan Peter and Barbara(Garlets) Engle's daughter, Catherine Engle b. 2-28-1815 married on March 19, 1831 James Boyd II b. 5-17-1801 They had 18 children...Our direct line is their son: Arion Boyd b. 1/7/1834 Somerset County, Pa m. Sept 6, 1856 Lagrange, In. to Nancy Carnahan d/o Samuel Carnahan and Mary Marshone B. July 8, 1836 Lagrange, In Arion and Nancy (Carnahan) Boyd's son James Theodore Boyd b. 11/12/1864 M. February 22, 1890 to Lillie VanOrman d/o Peter VanOrman and Alice Johnstonbaugh b. 1872 James T. and Lily's son Freddie J. Boyd B. 10/3/1894 m. May 30, 1933 to Helen Elizabeth Warren daughter of Richard Warren and Nellie Lage b. March 18, 1906
