Brailsford Mailing List (BML)

Why was the BML formed?
In May 2001 I spent hours trying to locate other Brailsford researchers on the internet. It was a very time consuming task. The Rootsweb Brailsford Mailing List (BML) did not exist, so at the advice of one of the many researchers, I applied to Rootsweb to create the BML.

What is the BML?
The BML is a free method of communication with others about the Brailsford family name, and related genealogical questions. It is an excellent way to communicate with the maximum number of Brailsford researchers with just one email. An email sent to the list is received by all subscribers, either in List Mode (one message at a time) or Digest Mode (messages are grouped). Only subscribers can send emails to the list. The subscribers are constantly growing, with over 90 researchers currently subscribed to the BML from England, as well as Europe, America, Australia & New Zealand to name a few. It is, of course, important to stay "on topic" so that all our busy subscribers are willing to stay on list. It is easy to subscribe, and equally easy to unsubscribe when the time comes. Please join us!

How can I join?
Subscribe to the BML by sending an email with the single word "subscribe" in the subject line, and nothing else.
in List Mode to [email protected]
or in Digest Mode to: [email protected]
You will receive a computer generated welcome message with further information.
Unsubscribe from the BML in List Mode or in Digest Mode by sending an email with the single word "unsubscribe" in the subject line, and nothing else. This must be done from the same email-address that you subscribed from.

What do I do next?
Introduce yourself and your research by sending a plain text introduction message to [email protected] . Please include your earliest BRAILSFORD info in the subject line to make it a useful search tool for the archives! Also, it is courtesy to type all SURNAMEs in CAPITAL LETTERs, as this makes it easier for other researchers to skim your message for names.
please note: Rootsweb can't cope with HTML or attachments, so in Outlook Express click [tools] [options] [send] and under "Mail Sending Format" select [plain text] to turn HTML off.

Can I view previous messages?
Yes! You may find we've already discussed your ancestors, so please have a look... Archives can be viewed by browsing all messages, or searching for a key word.

Brailsford Board

What is a Brailsford Board?
At the Rootsweb Brailsford Board you can post an enquiry or express your level of interest without joining a Mailing List. It gives the opportunity for non-members of the BML to view your queries. Anyone can view these postings and reply to them.

There is also a Genforum Brailsford Family Genealogy Forum which works in the same way, and may reach a different audience.
