Pictures from the past
Family Stiefern 1936
Countryside Idyll 1936

This snapshot was taken about two years before Hitler made an end with Austria, which then became the socalled 'Ostmark'. Times were pretty rough, with a slumping economy, wide-spread unemployment and a semi-fascistic single-party regime ruling. This picture looks like taken in the early afternoon. To the left it shows my grandfather - who was born on a neighboring farm - and grandmother together with a friend of the family and the daughter of the house, my 1C 1R. I called her aunt, nevertheless. None of those four is living anymore.

If you would like to show one of your pictures here, please contact me.
