Charles Abram Brendle

Charles Abram Brendle was born 7/21/1834. He is the son of Daniel Brendle and Mason Unknown. He is the grandson of John Brendle Jr. and Mary Ann Starr.

Daniel Brendle was married first to Sarah Peck. Sarah is the daughter of William Peck Sr. Daniel and Sarah had one child: Abram Brendle. Sarah died before 1834.

Daniel and Mason Brendle had five other children: John, William b. 1838, Martha C., James H. b. 1840 and Mary E. b. 1843. Daniel Brendle died 1840.

Mason Brendle married James H. Lee 12/22/1847 Davidson County, NC. Mason and James Lee had two children: John b. 1848 and Caroline b. 1850. James H. Lee was married first to Mary Douthit 3/5/1844 Davidson County, NC. James and Mary had one child: James b. 1845.

The 1850 Davidson County, NC Census, North Sub-divison, 1078/1089 has James and Mason Lee along with six children: James Lee, John Lee, Caroline Lee, Will Brendle, James Brendle and Mary Brendle.

Charles Brendle shows up in the same county census, 1002/1113 as a 15 year old laborer living with Lewis and Sarah Mullican.

A few questions arise at this point: 1. What happened to Daniel and Sarah Peck Brendle's son, Abram Brendle? Is it possible that this son is acutually Charles Abram Brendle? If so, then Sarah, not Mason would be his mother. This could be the reason why Charles is living with the Mullican's, instead of living with Mason and Henry Lee. 2. What happened to Daniel and Mason Brendle's children John and Martha C. Brendle? Charles Brindle is on the 1860 Davidson County, NC Census, Northern Divison, pg. 657.

According to North Carolina Troops 1861-1865, A Roster, published 1993, Charles A. Brindle claimed residence in Davidson County, NC. He enlisted 8/8/1862 in Petersburg, VA as a Private. He served North Carolina, Company H, Unit 48th Infantry and deserted on 5/10/1863.

Charles Brendle marries Lucetta Brandon b. 4/16/1855. Charles and Lucetta had six children: John Emory Brendle, James Harrison Brendle, Nellie Loula Brendle, Ida Mary Brendle, George Eddison Brendle and Arthur Washington Brendle.

Charles Brindle is on the 1870 Davidson County, NC Census, Conrad Hill Township, pg. 72.

Charles Brendle dies 2/22/1900. Charles A. Brendle buried Muddy Creek Church of Christ, NC. Lucetta Brandon Brendle dies 2/27/1935.
