Jackson County Heritage - North Carolina Henry Brendle Sr. born Germany 7-28-1788. In 1798 he and his father believed to be Johannas arived in N.Y. Johannas and young Henry, Sr. migrated to Lincoln Co.,NC.. Johannas remarried and died there. Henry Sr. d. 3-12-1857 married Mary Bevins b. 11-4-1785 d. 6-5-1810 and moved to Brendletown, Burke Co., NC about 4 miles south of present day town of Morganton. Children: Elias David b. 6-30-1814 d, 12-17-1886; John D. b. 10-18-1816; Joseph H. b. 3-13-1818; Henry Jr. known as Nick, b. 1-28-1820. Family moved to Haywood Co.,NC bought 237 acres near present day Dayco Rubber Co. Two more children: James Newton 12-8-1822, Elizabeth 12-16-1824. Henry Sr. and Mary are buried in Green Hill Cem. ,Waynesville, NC. Elias David married Celinda Varner Plott b. 6-1-1815 d. 8-7-1851 d/o Henry and Lydia Osborn Plott and moved to Scotts Creek (now Jackson Co.,NC) Children: Margaret Caroline b. 11-21-1839 married Jehu Ammons 9-19-1859; Mary Malgdin b. 5-15-1841 married Joshua Franks 2-24-1861; Sara Asemath b. 12-26-1842 married John Alfred Monteith; Celinda Josephine b. 10-31-1844 married Allen Bartlett Dills 2-1-1872l Lucina Haseltine b. 10-4-1840 married Leander Corbin 11-1-1886; Henry Plott b. 12-27-1849 married Sara (Sally) Davis 10-18-1875. Elias united with Scotts Creek Church 9-9-1845. Rev. Thomas Henson baptized him. He was ordained into the ministry 11-24-1853. Elias was County Coroner 185-1851, Clerk of Court 1861-1865, County Commissioner 1874-1875 and U.S. Commissioner 1875. Celinda Varner died 8-7-1851 of Typhoid fever. Buried Old Field Cem. Elias married Tabitha Parris. They are buried in Keener Cem.
