Weather fine. Enemy planes very active. Relief commenced by 5th Can Infantry Bde. M.G. Co. on May 31st completed at 11.30 P.M. men resting
2 Weather fine. Parade 10 A.M. Rifles and gas helmets inspected. Rest of day spent in cleaning guns, ammunition, etc. Usual aerial activity.
3 Weather fine. Parade 10 A.M. Received orders to be ready to move in an hour. Standing to all day.
4 Weather fine. Ordered to move to D. Camp at Ouderdome. Received orders to prepare to go into the line the following night.
5 Lt. Eastham and Lt. Basevi went to Ypres at 10 A.M. to make arrangements with O.C. 7th Bde. M.G. Co. for taking over that night. Relief complete in Hooge sector 2 A.M. One O.R. wounded during relief.
6 Weather fine. Heavy bombardment by enemy, who also blew four mines and attacked. Three of our guns inflicted very heavy casualties on the enemy, firing in all 4000 rounds. These guns greatly contributed to holding up the German attack. We had the following casualties: 2 O.R. killed, 1 O.R. died of wounds, 2 O.R. wounded.
7 Weather fair. Heavy shelling on both sides. No infantry activity. We had the following casualties: 3 O.R. wounded.
8 Weather cold and dull. Considerable artillery activity.
9 Weather very wet and cold. Considerable artillery activity. We had following casualties: 1 O.R. killed, 1 O.R. wounded.
10 Weather very wet and cold. Considerable artillery activity. We had following casualties: 4 O.R. killed, 1 O.R. wounded.
11 Weather very wet and cold. Heavy shelling all day. Our casualties were: 1 officer wounded.
12 Weather very wet and cold. Deliberate bombardment by our artillery 7 A.M. to 7 P.M. followed by intense bombardment 7.45 P.M. to 8.30 P.M. Casualties: 1 O.R. wounded.
13 Very wet and cold. Intense bombardment by our artillery in early morning Smoke demonstration and M.G. fire by our front line. Indirect fire carried on in conjunction with artillery and smoke demonstration. Attack made by our troops on our right. Casualties 1 O.R. wounded.
14 Weather very wet and cold. Things somewhat quieter. Not so much artillery activity.
15 Weather very wet and cold. Fairly quiet all day. We were relieved in line by 2nd Bde. Of Guards M.G. Co. Relief complete 2 A.M. Returned to camp at Reninghulst.
16 Weather unsettled. Men resting. Bath parade in morning. Inspection of gas helmets in afternoon, and rest of day spent in cleaning guns and ammunition, and checking over mens kits and equipment.
17 Weather fair. Men resting. Parade 10 A.M. Inspection of rifles and guns and ammunition.
18 Weather fine. Parade 10 A.M. Inspection of rifles etc. Company go for a short route march. 2 new officers report from England.
19 Weather unsettled. Inspection of Company and guns by Bde. Major. Relievd 8th Imperial Bde. M.G. Co. in St. Eloi Sector. Relief complete 1.30 A.M.
20 Weather fine. Very quiet day. A good deal of enemy M.G. fire at night. Moved transport from Ouderdom to Reninghulst.
21 Weather fine. Very quiet day. A good deal of enemy M.G. and rifle fire at night.
22 Weather fair, Very quiet. Enemy M.G. fire active at night.
23 Weather fair, Very quiet. Enemy M.G. fire active at night.
24 Weather unsettled. A certain amount of inter battery work, otherwise very quiet.
25 Weather fine. Our artillery fired steadily during afternoon. Night quiet.
26 Weather very wet. A fair amount of artillery and T.M. activity. We fired indirectly with two guns during the night.
27 Weather very wet. Artillery and T.M.s fairly active during day. Very quiet during the night. We fired indirectly with one gun during the night.
28 Weather unsettled. Very quiet. Relieved by the 5th Bde. M. G. Co. (Canadian) and returned Reninghulst. Relief complete 1.25 A.M.
29 Weather fine. Men resting. Bath parade 10 A.M. Rest of day spent cleaning guns and ammunition etc.
30 Weather unsettled. Whole company attending Divisional School of Instruction in Vickers Machine Gun.
