Henry Payne - Scholars Admission Certificate

Scholar's Admisssion Certificate

This Scholar's Admission Certificate for my gg-grandfather Henry PAYNE (1842-1907) is the only evidence I have that he ever attended school. I have not yet been able to locate any Woodville St Stephen's School Records for the appropriate period, so I don't know how long he lasted there.  However, I do know that it wasn't much more than a couple of years (he was admitted into the Ashby Workhouse in April 1850), and in all likelihood it was considerable less than this. Certainly he doesn't appear to have been there long enough to have been confirmed!
I am particularly interested in two of the godparents, James HALL and Mrs Joseph HOLT, and their possible family connections with Henry.  I'd be keen to hear from anyone else who has further information about the school, or on children who may have attended it in the late 1840s and early 1850s.
