T.W. Swift produced postcards in Chesterfield c. 1917, but is not know whether he also did portraiture from his studio at 12 Market Place.

Tom William Swift was born in 1873 at Collingham, Nottinghamshire, only son of a painter and house decorator Thomas Swift and his wife Elizabeth.  He married Ada Marshall at Nottingham in 1894, and they had a son, Arthur Blatchford Swift the following year.  Shortly after, they moved to Chesterfield, Derbyshire, where Tom was working as a coal agent in April 1901.  A post card produced by T.W. Swift and postally used in 1917 probably dates from around that time.
