have my Father. She never saw her son John Allen Snow or her
daughter Amy Alice Snow again. Four
of the five children she had with William Henry Snow wound up “in care.” She never saw her son and two daughters
again. |

Allen Snow (1905-1996). His mother
Annie Gifford/Snow left his father John George Snow to live with William
Henry Snow and to have my Father. He never saw his
mother again and believed my Father was his natural brother. He did not know he had two other half
brothers and two half sisters. |
Half Sister Amy
Alice Snow (1907-1983 Age 76). Her
mother Annie Gifford/Snow left her father John George Snow to live with
William Henry Snow and to have my Father.
She never saw her mother again and believed my Father was her natural brother. She did not know she had two half brothers and two half sisters. |
Brother William
Alfred Snow (1912-1991). The only one of four children to escape being ‘in
care.’ His father William Henry Snow left his mother Annie Gifford/Snow in
1926 to live with Leah Lassman. His
sister Violet (12), sister Gladys (8), and brother Reginald (6) were placed
in Barnardo’s in 1926. He accompanied
his father but was thrown out of the family home shortly after to fend for
himself. He met his mother and father once during the 1950’s. He did not know he had two half brothers and two half sisters. |

Lillian Beatrice Snow (1914-1998). Her father William Henry Snow left her
mother Annie Gifford/Snow in 1926 to live with Leah Lassman. She (12), her sister Gladys (8), and
brother Reginald (6) were placed in Barnardo’s in 1926. She never saw her mother or father after
she was in care. She did not know she
had an older brother (my Father) and a half brother and half sister. In 1942 after a
marital breakdown, Violet turned her children Gladys Elsie and James over to
Barnardo’s. |

William Henry Snow left his mother Annie Gifford/Snow in 1926 to live with
Leah Lassman. He (6), his sister
Violet (12) and sister Gladys (8) were placed in Barnardo’s in 1926. He found his
mother in the 1950’s and lived in the same building as she. He saw his father once in the 1950’s. He did not know he had two half brothers
and two half sisters. |
