Surname Resource Centre Welcome to my Sandeman Surname Resource Centre page! This website is for anyone, anywhere in the world, who is interested in, or researching, the Sandeman surname or Sandeman genealogy (family trees). This Surname Resource Centre is designed to collect information regarding all things "Sandeman", and links to people freely. This means that there are no special requirements needed for you to post queries on my Sandeman Guestbook, or to be added to the Sandeman Web Page Links page, except that you have an interest in the Sandeman surname. My nearest ancestor with the surname Sandeman is seven generations removed! Her name was Catherine Sandeman, and she was born in 1755; d.1831; m.(her first marriage) in 1776, to William Waterston (his 2nd marriage); b.1729; d.1780.

Some information on the surname origins, from Sandeman, G.L. (ed.) (1950) The Sandeman Genealogy, Edinburgh: George Waterston & Sons. This information is reproduced here for research purposes only, and should not be reproduced anywhere for profit.
This section mainly contains only information on family trees, with very little biographical detail here besides the basic birth, death and marriage dates (BDM dates). Includes a copy of the 1895/1894 "Sandeman Genealogy", provided by Glen Ralph with some additional notes by him. Also includes a transciption of the first two pages of the 1950 genealogy.
This section includes biographical and background information on Sandemans, images (photos, drawings, etc.), and lists of look-up volunteers. Notably now includes a very browsable online copy of the "Sandeman Scrapbook" by Glen Ralph, which is worth exploring for gems of detailed information on individuals, the Sandemanian religious denomination, Sandeman ports and wines, Sandeman libraries, and more.
At least a couple of branches of the Sandeman tree were transplanted to India! Some information on Sandeman-related surnames of those who settled in India, and on particular Sandeman-related individuals. Submissions of information for this section (or any other, for that matter!) are most welcome.
