The word "friedens" is German for "peace or tranquility"

If you are in the area and have an opportunity to visit Friedens, the following "hardcopies" of family histories and other information are located in the Church History Room. These are available for your research, but are not for sale by the Church.

The Church Office is open Monday to Friday 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and is happy to provide access for you to do your own research, but unfortunately is not staffed to do research, so PLEASE DO NOT request lookups by mail or by phone.

    This book traces the KOPP/COBB history beginning with HEINRICK KOPP, Sr. (1736-1812) from Germany to Pa. to NC to Tenn. etc. Also includes some history of the names KERNODLE; AMMONS; CLAPP: SCHUMACHER; CROSKERY; YOUNGMAN; BUTLER; ROBINSON. The information is well-documented, with copies of wills, censuses, photographs; indexed.

    (Henry COBB, Jr. b. Feb 2, 1771 d. Dec 11,1844 lived in the Friedens Church community, and he and some of his decendants are buried there.) For a discussion regarding Catharina, the wife of Henry Sr, see "Who was Catharina Kopp?"

    Explores one line of the immigrant Sebastian (name Anglicized to Boston) Gerringer. Includes early history of Boston Gerringer with descendancy line of author through present time. Contains photographs, copies of original documents and biographical information.
