·         Son of Alexander Gillespie and Elizabeth Robison.  Nephew of John and Polly B. (Robison) Knox.  Lived nearby in 1850 Census Record.

 

·         Married (1) Elizabeth Virginia Springs, daughter of his Guardian, Andrew Baxter Springs and Frances Henderson; married (2) Catherine E. Unknown.

 

·         Ruling Elder at Bethel. Ordained the same day as first-cousin, Robert J. Wilson Knox.  Served as Administrator for the combined Estates of cousins John R. and Andrew Springs Knox.

 

·         Buried at Bethel.

Gilaspie  [GILLESPIE] , both of Mecklenburg Co, NC, for $1125...all that land lying and being in the County of Mecklenburg ON BOTH SIDES OF THE GREAT ROAD LEADING FROM STATESVILLE TO CHARLOTTE  bounded as follows...Begining at the large black oak by the garden A. Springs corner & runs with two of this lines...to a Hickory or rock then...to a "parsimon" JOHN or ROBERT KNOX's corner then...to a  post oak stump W. G. POTTS corner...to a gum W. B. POTTS Corner then...to a white oak stump & "saplin"...then to a black oak...then to a post oak at the Big Road then...to a black oak J. F. Gilashies [GILLESPIE's] corner...to a gum J. F.
