Almelo Family Reconstructions

Almelo is a small town in the eastern part of the Dutch province of Overijssel. The present municipality consists both of the town itself, and of the surrounding country, the former Ambt or Heerlijkheid Almelo, which was the realm of the Count of Almelo.

This project grew out of my ten Bruggencate project. With so much of the family in Almelo, the relations between the inhabitants started to interest me, and I started to transcribe some sources. In the meantime most of the sources have become digitally available in other places (see the bibliography).

The website contains only people born before 1850, but in a number of cases I do have more information. For ten Bruggencate, see also the ten Bruggencate database, for Gast the ancestors of my grandchildren.
