Clayburn, Clayborn, Claiborne, and Clybourne

 

Jonas Clyborn and Edith Folkes.

His oldest son:Leonard Claiborne, b 1759, Chesterfield Co., Va, married 13 Nov 1788, to Frances Tanner "Fanny", b 1772, Amelia Co., Va. This Leonard was a Revolutionary War soldier.

His son,Leonard C. Clybourn, from Va, birth unknown, died before 1840. On the 1820 census, Overton Co.. Married Mary A. Flowers, daughter of Roland Flowers, a revolutionary soldier.(Overton changed to Fentress Co. in 1823. Leonard owned land there.)

His son was Dr.Robert Tanner Clayborn, was b 1818-19. He married Hanna Zachary, then Mary Kerney.

He was also a farmer. He served in the Cival War, Union Army, as a recruiting officer in Jamestown, Tenn. He is buried with son, Leonard, and first wife Hanna.


Dr. Leonard Elam Claiborne, was b 18 Feb 1847, the oldest of 15-16 children. (Mother was Hanna) He died 26 June 1921, Fentress Co., Tenn. He married Matilda Rich, then Annie Lou Rich. Burial was at Shadow Graveyard, Fentress Co. Matilda was the daughter of William Rich. Son of John Rich, b 1788, NC, and Catherine Pyle, married 14 June 1810. Annie Lou was the daughter of Calvin Rich and Margaret Angel. Calvin, b 1837, Pall Mall, Tenn.; his father was Thomas Rich, b 3-3-1811, oldest son of John Rich and Catherine Pyle. Catherine Pyle was the daughter of "Coonrod" Pyle, the first settler to come to that county, in 1790.

Calvin served in the Cival War, Union Army, 1863-1865, Ky. John served in the War of 1812, Battle of New Orleans, under Capt. Wiley Huttleston's Co.

 

Leonard's children with Matilda were: Mary Ann, Hanna, William Andrew, Ruth, Bob, Hanna Kathleen, Martha Jane, James Lafayette, and Mandy.

Leonard's children with Annie Lou were:

Son: Ocie Everett Clayburn, b 25 July 1901, Jamestown, Tenn, place called Little Crab, d 30 May 1979, Mt Vernon, Ky.

Ocie married Vera Ellen Winningham, b 1 Jan 1906, Tenn., d 30 Sept 1965, Mt Vernon, Ky. The daughter of John Allen Winningham, b app 1875, d 1946, at age 69. Ocie and Vera are buried at Fairview Cem., Jamestown. They had 2 sons and 10 daughters:

Bobby G. Clayborn, Ocie Everett Jr., Adel, Margaret May, Wendy Eileen, Juanita Ethyl, Iris Irene, Mildred Paulina, Edith, Austin, Georgia, and Mattie Lou Clayborn.


Mattie Lou Clayburn was a tele operator. Born 6 Sept 1934, Jamestown, Tenn., died 5 June 1990, car wreck in Fla., age 54. Buried at White Lick Cem. in Mooresville, Ind. Mattie married 4 July 1962, Marion Co., Ind. to Robert Benjamin Brumley II.
