A distressing runaway accident occurred on Monday, about 8 o'clock A.M., on the Sonora and Rock Creek township line.  Mr. and Mrs. Joe Mapes, together with the former's brother-in-law, wife and child, were driving to Nauvoo in a wagon.  The horses became frightened in some manner and started to run.  The wagon tongue was jerked out of the neck yoke, and running into the ground threw the wagon end over end, precipitating the occupants violently to the ground.  Mrs. Mapes received terrible injuries about the head, face and breast, and the remainder of the party were badly bruised.  Mrs. Mapes is reported to be in a very dangerous condition.
