I, John Buckner, of the County of Green and the state of Kentucky , do make and ordain this my last will and Testament in manner and form following, viz., To my son, James B. Buckner, I have already given two negroes, viz. , Adam and Rosetta, and in addition to these, I give and bequeath to him my old negro,

Norman Ross, to be his and his heirs forever. To my daughter Mary M . Jackson, I have already given two negroes, viz., Daniel and Judy. In additi on to these, I give and bequeath to her, the said Mary M. Jackson, my old negro man, Dale, to be hers and her heirs forever. To my daughter, Winifred E. Buckner, (who I expect now lives in the state of Virginia), I give and bequeath my negro girl named Polly and her two children named Fanny and Abarilla, and their offspring to her and her heirs forever. I also give her one hundred dollars to be paid out of the money arising from the sale of my property. It is my will and desire that my negro woman Fanny and her daughter Polly be sold by public sale, and if Richard Parrot will become the purchaser of both, it is my will and desire that 50 dollars be taken from his bid, and he become accountable only for the remainder in the usual way of obligations.

It is my desire that my land and all the rest of my property be sold except that which I heretofore and hereafter in this will do mention and otherwise order, and out of the amount of sales, that all my just debts be paid and fifty dollars be given to my negro girl named Polly and the remainder exclusive of the one hundred given to Winifred be divided equally among my three children: viz., James B. Buckner, Mary M. Jackson and Winifred E. Buckner.

And lastly, it is my will and desire that my two boys, Tomas Jefferson and George Burrel (sons of my woman Polly), at my death be emancipated and I do hereby declare them to be at that time no longer slaves; but free. I do desire that Gabriel M. Buckner take said boys into his possession and help them to learn the art of farming until they become respectively of age of twenty-one years, giving to each of them the education required by law to be given to boys who are bound out of court, and also such compensation as the law directs to be given by the Master of an apprentice. Should said Gabriel refuse to take said boys, I desire that he will attend to their being bound out to learn some trade.

I hereby vest my Executors with full power to agree to any division of the land ow ned by me in conjunction with others, and I do hereby vest them, or either of them that shall act with the legal title, to the same, that they may be enabled in their names or the names of either of them that may act, to make deeds to the purchasers.

Lastly, I do appoint Gabriel M. Buckner, my nephew, and James B. Buckner, my son, Executors of this my last will and testament, hereby revoking all other wills by me heretofore made. In testimony whereof I do hereunto subscribe my name and affix my seal this 27th day of May, 1822 N.B. The name heretofore enterlined before signed. Signed, sealed and delivered in presence of:
