Will of Eli Buckner:

 

July 2nd 1885

 

In the name of God Amen:

 

I Eli Buckner of the County of Chatham and State of North Carolina Being of sound mind and memory and considering the uncertainty of this frail and transitory life do therefore make ordain publish and declare this to be my last will and testament first that my body to committed to its Mother dust in a plain decent becoming way suitable to the wishes and desires of my surviving family

 

2nd After all my lawful debts are paid together with my funeral expenses the residue of what God has entrusted with me both personal and real I dispose of as follows

 

I give and bequeath to my beloved wife Sinai the home I now live on during her natural life and so much of the products of my mill as will plentiful support her also all my house hold & kitchen furniture during her natural life and as much of my stock and all kinds as she wishes to keep.

 

I give and bequeath to my son William J. Buckner the lands he now lives on for which I have made him a deed I also give him my anvil.

 

I give and bequeath to my son John F. Buckner the land on which he now lives for which I have lmade him a deed.

 

I will and bequeath to my son James T. Buckner my home plantation to be his after the decease of my self and wife  Also I gave him one half of my sheep cows & hogs at or after our deaths also the best road wagon I may be possess with at my death.

 

I also give and bequeath to my son Thomas A. Buckner all my interest in my mill and land it being the mill lot supposed to be one hundred acress it to be his after the deceased of myself and Wife  Also all moneys and other effects that I may be in possession of shall be equally divided between my four above named sons after the death of myself and wife now my desire is to my surviving sons that you settle this my estated in love friendship and peace amongst yourselves in Remembrance of me your loving Father

 

Now I constiture and appoint my sons John F. Buckner James T. Buckner as Executors to execute this my last will and testament signed sealed and delivered in presents of Vance Buckner
