The Old Watering Hole with the Northaven woods in the background

Bulger, my best friend and faithful dog companion, and I loved to play in those woods when we were kids, but we saw something there one late evening, just before dark, that nearly scared the pants off both of us. It wasn't exactly a full fledged ghost but it was the next best thing. [Remind me to tell you about that sometime]

I took a lot of pictures around the farm on August 14 of 1953. It was on a Friday and I was starting to find a love for photography that would last the rest of my life. There was color film available in 1953 but I didn't know it. I had an old box camera that took only back and white pictures.

I especially liked the long shadows of evening when the August heat faded into what we called, "the cool of the day" even though it was still hot. I had completed my Junior year of High school and would graduate in 1954.
