We had been corresponding with Mardie by snail mail, for some time, but then she got e mail capabilities and and we corresponded that way for some time. In December of 2005, I learned, from Ted's eldest son, Marvin Tedder, Jr. that Mardie passed away in September of 2005. So now, we have lost them both.
I think Ted was about 78 years of age at the time of his death. One thing we discussed in that phone conversation was the motorcycle accident we had with me driving, and him on behind. I ended up with a broken leg and spent the next 40 days and nights in Tokyo Army Hospital. Ted escaped any serious injury from it. [How was I to know they drove on the wrong side of the road in Japan?] Afterward, they were both very nice to let Laura Ann stay nights with them while I was in the hospital. I don't think I ever got around to properly expressing my appreciation for that.
Anyway, in picture # 1 Ted carved the ham while Mardie and Jim looked hungry and Laura Ann took a much needed nap. After dinner, Mardie did some dish washing in our tiny kitchen, picture # 2. If you click on picture # 1 for the larger view, you can smell the ham.
