Fulton Co. IN. He married (1) ESTHER NOAKER. He married (2) ESTHER AYRES MAY
May 26, 1857 in Bucyrus, Crawford Co. Ohio.
Notes for ISAAC NOYER:
Isaac Noyer was raised in Columbia County, PA. He married Esther Noaker in PA. The first
two of his children were born in PA. He then purchased a land grant [OH Land Document #
1634/ 1831] in Bloomfield Twp., [Twp. 19-N] Morrow County, Ohio for 80 acres in 1831.
Richard W. Noyer, officer of a 1913 Isaac Noyer reunion, made written reference to Isaac as
grandfather and also wrote that Isaac settled south of Galion, Ohio, March 1829. Peter Noyer
purchased 40 acres of land in the same county and township in 1833. Peter S. Married Jane
Sharock in Morrow/Crawford Co. OH 1882. Also found were records for a Sophia Noyer
married Jacob Seif 1839. This is possibly a sister to Isaac as well as an Abigail Noyer Leasure
married Samuel Elder Dec. 1837 in Richland Co., OH.
1850 Census of N. Bloomfield Twp. Morrow County OH [pg. 398]

Charles 21 PA

The Mary A. age 72 is believed to be Isaac's mother. This would put her born in 1778. The census did not contain a Samuel Charles Noyer, probably left home prior to the 1850 census. It also did not contain a Sarah Noyer, resident of Crawford County, that married Henry Althouse on Sept. 26, 1845 in Crawford County. It is questioned whether she is a daughter to Isaac. She would have married and also left before the 1850 census.
Isaac remarried May 26, 1857 to a second Esther (Ayres] in Crawford Co., OH. Isaac appeared
in the 1860 OH census for the town of Galion in Polk Twp., Crawford Co. OH as a merchant.
That census is as follows:
Name Age
Isaac Noyer 57
Esther [Ayres] Noyer 53
Sylpha 11
Lines H. 09
Maria 83/85
(Also three of Esther's Children as follows}

Isaac is buried near his oldest son in the Akron Citizen Cemetery, also known as the "Old
Cemetery" in Henry Twp., of Fulton Co. Indiana. His birth is noted in the cemetery records as
1806 instead of the 1803 as determined from the census reports. No death records could be
found in Fulton County, IN and surrounding Counties.
Isaac Noyer Obituary as it appeared in the Rochester Sentinel, Feb. 10, 1883:
Isaac Noyer, father of Peter Noyer and grandfather of the publisher of the Republican, died in Henry township last week at the advanced age of 82 years.
[March 9, 1806--Feb. 2, 1883; bur Akron Citizens Cem.]
The first Noyer reunion was held on August 25, 1912 at Robinson Park, Ft. Wayne, Indiana. Seventy five members attended. It was decided to form a permanent organization and officers were elected. Linus H. Noyer [son], Monroeville IN, President; Samuel C. Noyer [grandson] ,Galion, Ohio, Secretary.
The second Reunion was held in 1913 at the home of Mr. & Mrs. Walter Zimmerman [Great-grand daughter to Isaac] near the 1829 Homestead of Isaac Noyer, South of Galion, Ohio. Pretty, white Noyer reunion ribbons with the picture of Isaac Noyer were given and the nice invitations were printed by Inquirer [Richard W. Noyer[.
In 1914, the reunion was held in Chicago. There is currently no information regarding that
reunion.

1885 in Iowa. He married SARAH ELIZABETH STRAWBRIDGE. She was born Abt. 1842 in
Ill, and died Abt. 1885.
Notes for SAMUEL CHARLES NOYER:
It is believed that Samuel Charles Noyer is a son to Isaac Noyer. He was not listed in the 1850 OH Census with Isaac Noyer. It is believed that he moved from Ohio to IL before that time. He married Sarah Strawbridge. Eight of their 10 children were born IL. The family moved to Grundy County, Iowa around 1877 but some tragedy, in 1885 sent 5 of the younger Children: Rollie, Richard W., Clyde A., Lewis D., and Kattie back to Indiana to live with their Uncle Linus Henry Noyer, of Monroeville, IN, brother to Charles.
A letter was written Dec. 24, 1865 that started out, "Dear Brother and Sister" that was written to Charles and Elizabeth [Klopfenstein] Noyer in Monroeville, IN by Samuel and Sarah Noyer. The letter was written from Mechanicsburg, IL, the same place Richard W. Noyer was born. In 1880 census, Richard, who refers to Isaac as grandpa, is listed as a son of Samuel and Sarah.
Idell Noyer, [dau. of Clyde Noyer, granddaughter of Samuel Charles] listed 5 of the children
which fit into Samuel's family. She noted that their parents died when they [the children] were
young. Richard W. Noyer's [Samuel's son] obituary said that he became and orphan at age 12.
Idell also said that she was adopted by her father's Uncle Lynus Henry Noyer. Her father was
Clyde Noyer.

Another account says that when Rolla was about 11 years old, something happened to the parents and Rolla, Richard, Clyde, Lewis and Kattie were put into an orphanage. Rolla stayed there until about 14, when he ran away to Nebraska and never spoke or heard from his siblings again. There are stories from some people in Creighton that an older brother was hung as a horse thief, but was later learned he was stealing back his own horse that had been stolen.

Another report says that Samuel Noyer was married twice. First wife was Mary Jane Montgomery and they had the following children: Hester, Thomas, Sarah. Second wife was Sarah Elizabeth Strawbridge and they had 5 children: Rolla, Richard, Clyde, LewisDelbert, and Kattie. [This accounts for 8 of Samuel's 10 children.--jc

January 17, 1861 in Decater, ILL, and died January 12, 1905 in Eldora, Hardin County, IA. She
married CHARLES POLLEY March 24, 1890 in Harden Co. Iowa, son of CARL POLLEY and
HENRIETTA UNKNOWN. He was born July 19, 1857 in Rosenfield Germany, and died
January 08, 1944 in Iowa Falls, IA.
Notes for SARAH ELIZABETH NOYER, LIZZIE:
Died at age 44. Known as Lizzie.
From records of Anna Seims, daughter of Minnie Belle Polley who was a daughter of Charles and Sarah [Noyer] Polley.
Mother: Sarah Elizabeth Noyer, daughter of Sam Noyer, was born January 17, 1861 at Decater, IL. She was united in marriage to Charles Polley March 24, 1890. She died at the age of 44 on January 12, 1905.
Father: Charles Polley, son of Mrs. Henrietta Polley. The Father's name has been forgotten. He
was born July 19, 1857 at Rosen Field, Germany. He died at the age of 87 on January 8, 1944.
More About SARAH ELIZABETH NOYER, LIZZIE:
Burial: 1905, Eldora City Cemetery, Eldora, IA
Notes for CHARLES POLLEY:
He died at age 87
He is buried at Eldora Cemetery in Eldora, Iowa. His wife, Lizzy is buried there also but not next to him. She is some distance to the West of his grave.
Reason:
Charles and wife, Lizzy Noyer bought grave sites side by side. Lizzie died first and was buried in her spot. While Charles was still alive, his daughter, Anna Mae, who was married to Eldon Moon died. Eldon didn't have any money to purchase a grave site, so Charles gave his site to Anna Mae. So this put the daughter buried next to her mother and left Charles with no place to be buried. I don't know the details, but when Charles died he was buried in another site. When I visited the site in 1998, I found Charles buried next to his son. To make it more confusing, Anna Mae's stone is there beside her father and brother, but she is actually buried by her mother in another location. There is no stone or marker beside the mother, Sarah Elizabeth Noyer Polley, to indicate that Anna Mae, or anyone for that matter, is buried there. This is all word of mouth passed on by relatives who were still living in 1998. I think it is accurate.

Name of informant was E. C. Moon of Sheffield, IA. Cause of death was Pneumonia both lungs. Attending physician was Walter K. Long of Hampton. Burial was listed as Eldora on Feb. 12, 1920. Undertaker was E. F. Graf of Hampton, IA. END OF RECORD.
Note on Lutheran Hospital: The Lutheran hospital was also known as Hampton Hospital. It is

More About ANNA MAE POLLEY:
Burial: Eldora City Cemetery, Eldora, IA
Notes for ELDON CAREY MOON:
Eldon is Laura Higdon Carpenter's grand father. In 1920 the family was in Sheffield, IA. Eldon was a farmer raising corn.
See Marriage notes also.
Eldon's wife, Ann Mae died Feb. 9, 1920 of double pneumonia, at the Lutheran Hospital in
Eldora or Hampton, Iowa at the age of thirty. It was assumed she was pregnant again. Eldon, a
farmer in Sheffield, Iowa, put his 4 children in the care of his sister Minnie. In November of
1920 he wrote a letter to another sister, Ina Sue Fancher, in Tulsa saying he was selling out and
ask her to take 2 of his children. The letter was postmarked, Sheffield, Iowa, November 1, 1920.
He told Ina Sue that he didn't want to put them in an orphans home and had just decided to "let
them out." Ina Sue eventually adopted the two girls, Ruth and Helen and their names became
Fancher. One of the boys, Lewis E. was never adopted and remained a Moon. The other boy
Charles William was adopted by Ed Luiken's sister whose married name was Tholen, so he
became a Tholen. Ed Luiken was the husband of Minnie Bell Polley who was the sister of
Eldon's wife Anna Mae. Eldon disappeared and was never heard of again. When Eldon's father
died in 1921 the obituary gave Eldon's location as Mexico.
Eldon Carey Moon was 28 years old in Reeve City, Iowa in 1914, and Anna Mae was 24. This is where their daughter, Helen was born. (Evidence also suggests he lived in Hampton IA at one time.)
Eldon's Mother was Mrs. Joe W. Moon (Minna Wehrman Moon) Heron Lake, MN.
[Public info, Bureau of Census, Dept. of Commerce, Washington, D.C.]
Some speculation is that he might have assumed the name of Charles Fry and used that name to check on the kids periodically without revealing his true identity.
When his father died in 1921, the obituary listed his residence as Mexico. When his mother died
in 1927, he was not listed among the living children.
ELDON MOON'S LETTER
Sheffield, IA
Nov. 1, 1920
Dear Sister:
Well how are you by this time. We are all well. We sure do have lots of rain again. It seems
like it just can't stop. I was to Eldora the other day. Every body down there is well and doing
fine. Aunt Ama Montgomerys have come back to Iowa to live again. Have you heard from the
folks since I saw you? I haven't. Say, I wish you would send me Minnie's address if you know it.
I still expect to have my sale on the 16th of Nov., if this rain don't put me back too far with corn
picking. I hope the weather will be good after this. We have had so much bad weather this fall.
Say, Ina, how much would you charge me to take care of 2 of these children. You haven't got
much work to do. The way things go around here they don't get half taken care of. I am willing
to pay you anything reasonable. I can't make things go this way and I don't like to send them to
the orphans home. If you can see a way to do this, Ina, it will help me out wonderfully. Well
write me about it soon as you can as I have just made up my mind to let them out and must know
where they're going before I sell out.
As ever, your loving Brother,
Eldon and the kids
