The Story of Tom and Joe

[There are many lanes on the highway of life, but they all lead to the same place.]

Two young friends at the crossroads,
Pondering which way to go.
One goes left, one goes right,
"Goodbye, Tom," "Goodbye, Joe."

Each road leads through the sunshine.
Each road leads through the snow.
Days and years and decades pass.
Tom does well, so does Joe.

Each road leads to the sunset,
To merge in the afterglow.
Two old friends meet once again.
"Hello Tom," "Hello, Joe."

The road winds up to the hilltop,
There standing in a row,
Two marble stones proclaiming,
"Here lies Tom," "Here lies Joe."
