The Dixonville Cemetery was established in approximately 1856 since that is the death date of John Dixon and no other marker dates back before that time. The land was donated for the establishment of a cemetery by E. A. Dixon known as Uncle Gus, a widely known citizen and a resident all his life in a log house a short distance from the cemetery. After the death of Mary Dixon, his wife, in 1905 he married Mary Dixon, his brother's widow. Uncle Gus died in 1912 and his second wife in 1914. In 1910 he donated one acre joining the cemetery to the Reorganized Latter Day Saints Church on which the building still stands.

In a careful count of graves marked and unmarked in the cemetery we find 255 marked adult graves, 60 unmarked adult graves, 55 marked child graves, and 35 unmarked child graves, a total of 405 graves.

There was at one time several families of Dixons in and around the Dixonville Community. They were relatives of Uncle Gus Dixon. Most of them are dead, especially the first and second generation.  Occasionally now a descendant that moved away dies and is brought back to this cemetery to be buried, for instance, Abe, the grandson of Uncle Gus, and Lawrence, a close relative. When they moved away they kept their lot because they loved the grounds. We regret the failure of some to place a marker on the grave of their loved ones. To many this spot of earth seems sacred and an annex has been added by Mahlon McCall and lots 20x20 are being sold. In this cemetery you will find markers on graves of such men as John Dixon, Gus Dixon, Samuel Dixon, Joe Barnes, John McCall, Lomax Jernigan, Ples Thompson, Emmett McCall, Thomas Massingale, Rufus McNaughton, John Calhoun and many others.
