SIMEON MASON
The Mason Family in its earliest beginnings came to this country from England when America was a very young age and settled in Virginia. As the westward movement began and the country expanded, so did the Mason Family. They came through the Cumberland Gap and headed north through Kentucky to the great state of Indiana. They traveled to Pike County and the family has been here through many years. Among family members to live in Pike Co. was William Mason and his wife, Huldah Ann Almon Mason. He cleared land in Pike Co. and became a farmer. On Aug 14th, 1837, a son was born to this marriage, Simeon Mason. Simeon helped his father on their farm until he married Eliza Macer Skinner, the daughter of John and Elizabeth (Betsy) Macer Sinner. Simeon and Eliza lived on a farm approximately three miles southwest of what is now Enos Corner and owned about 680 acres in Monroe Township. He was said to have been one of the biggest landowners in Pike Co. in that day. There were twelve children born to Simeon and Eliza: Carrie Mason Parker, Elizabeth Mason Farmer, John T. Mason, Fannie Mason Beatty, William H. Mason, Henry Mason, Lucy Mason Thompson, George B. Mason, Clara (Flora) Mason McKinney, Shelby Mason, Grover Cleveland Mason and Michael M.
