On my husband's Walker line, several generations back, a Walker married a Walker. John Clement Walker from Russell Co. Alabama, married Eugenia (Sally) Adora Walker from Spartanburg Co, SC.Her parents were Jacob Allen Walker and Sarah Adeline Patterson, who lived in Spartanburg SC until Jacob died in 1867. Then, Sarah decided to bring her family to Alabama after the death of her husband. It is thought that she travelled with the McMakin family, also from Spartanburg, to Russell Co, Alabama, to Uchee, near Hatchechubbee.
Jacob Allen Walker descended from Col. John Rutherford, from Rutherford Co, NC, who fought in the Revolutionary war. This Walker Line descends from Thomas Walker who was born during the reign of Queen Elizabeth in Nottinghamshire, England, in 1538. His son, Gervase, was Rector of Badoney, Ireland. He is buried St. Columb's Cathederal Churchyard in Londerry, Ireland. His son was George Walker, B.A. M.A., was Chancellor of Armagh, Ireland and his Memorial Stone is in Kilmore Church, Diocese of Armagh. His son, John Walker was resident Collector (Inland Revenue) in Cavan, then Armagh, then Dundalk in Ireland for the English King. In his will he mentions five children. All born in Ireland. His son, John Walker from Derry, Ireland came to America and settled in Delaware in 1720. Settled in Appoquinimink Hundred, Delaware, near a small town called Appaquinimey. Was a farmer in moderate circumstances. He had two sons and three daughters. This brings us to his son, Col. John Rutherford, who served with the 1st Regt NC Militia in the Revolutionary War. His grave is located at his homeplace, near the Rutherford and Polk County line in the Green River Township. (/blockquote>
