Andrew Martin Kent compiled this Kent Sketch. He is a cousin of Sadalew White of Wilmington, Va and Mrs. William Dearing Cox, "Tumbling Run", Amherst VA.
My Christmas card to (Andrew) Mr. Kent Dec 15, 1963, was returned to me marked "deceased". Mr. Kent was 80 years old 1883-1962.
A. Kent - "Cora T. Kent will 1800, was my father’s first wife. Letitia Bowles Kent was her mother. Catherine Sibella Kent, my grandmother Kent
Bettie L. Kent was her daughter.
A. Kent and his wife, Grace Hickey, are now divorced.
"Kentwood", Andrew Kent’s old home is on the road coming from the Ferncliff Road into Wilmington. It is within sight of Kent’s Store.
A large, white frame house. You can see along this road several large homes (old) most of them at one time owned by Kents or some of our connections by marriage. The Kents owned most of this section, our ancestor, William Kent’s plantation was near Beulah Church.
At this time, Feb. 1963, Andrew Kent born 1883 would be 80 years of age, living in Riverside, California. 4016 10th St. Apt 3 Andrew M. Kent.
This past summer, he made a tour of several western states. He visited in the home of David Pollard, Grand Junction Colo. 2824 Orchard Ave., taking him most of his notes and sketches on many families living in Fluvanna County. His age being what it was, he wanted his work, to be with someone who would treasure it.
William David Pollard is related to us on the Kent side, his grandfather was Robert Kent, who was a brother of John Kent, SR, our great-grandfather. Robert and John Kent were the ones who settled near Antioch, both preachers and Matrtie Haden says started the first church in that section, called "Kent’s Chapel".
1963 - A. Kent sent me a book "Sadler Family Genealogy" - he had already given me all the Kent, Stone, Thomas, Shepherd, Parrish and many other family sketches. Our great uncle, John Thomas Kent married Mildred Judson Sadler, granddaughter of Robert Anderson Kent and Sarah Semple - her parents were Mary Ann Leland Kent and William Hugh Sadler.
