Archelaus Kent's birth record is in the Archelaus Kent Bible, that Mrs. A.A. Kent, Jr has, and on his toombstone. There are no records of his eduation. In 1830, he met Sarah Suddreth of Burke Co (now Caldwell Co) NC, who was on a prolonged visit at his aunt's Mrs. John Richardson of Fluvanna Co, VA Archelaus Kent was an old bachelor and Sarah Suddreth, an old maid, when they were married, in Fluvanna Co, probably at the home of Mrs. John Richardson. The marriage bond is recorded in the CH at Palmyra, VA
The first and second children, Abraham Suddreth Kent and Martha Sarah Kent were born in Fluvanna Co, VA. In 1834, Archelaus Kent and his wife with the two children and his slaves moved from Fluvanna Co VA to Burke Co NC, settling on Lower Creek near his waife's father, Abraham Suddreth. Archelaus Kent bought William and John Suddreth's shares in their father Abraham' Suddreth's land including the Abraham Suddreth homeplace. Sarah Suddreth Kent is buried in the Suddreth-Kent burial ground near the Abraham Suddreth-Kent homeplace. All of these graves: Suddreth, Sumter, Kent were moved to the Kent, Suddreth and Perkins plot, Bellview Cemetery, Lenoir NC, by Dr. A.A. Kent, Sr
Archelaus Kent was a propsperous planter with slaves and a large plantation. He is buried in the Suddreth-Kent burying ground besides his first wife.
Sister, Lucy, marriage bond is on File, Fluvanna, Co, VA She and her husband moved to Tennessee or Kentucky where she raised a family
Brother, Thomas, was a planter. From letters to Archelaus Kent from Fluvanna Co after Archelaus moved to Burke (now Caldwell) Co, Thomas Kent was an alcoholic.
