Within this Bullock family's own notes there is conflicting information about who William G. Bullock's parents were. Various handwritten or type-written notes provided by immediate family members indicate that THOMAS A. BULLOCK and LUCY LANGMIRE were his parents. Extensive information compiled by Barbara Bullock Elliott, however, indicated that his father's name was GEORGE FREEMAN BULLOCK (born abt. 1810 in Granville Co.; died June 21, 1866), that his mother's name was MELINDA GREEN, daughter of Elijah GREEN and Elisabeth CULVERHOUSE, and that they were married on April 24, 1833. Barbara's compilation also suggests that Thomas A. Bullock (born June 5, 1857, died February 22, 1866--9 years old) and Lucy Lee Bullock (born May 15, 1862, died March 30, 1863--less than 1 year old) were among William G. Bullock's children. I am happy to report that I have since (July 2004) found more information that corroborates many of these details. Barbara Bullock Elliott's is an impressive body of work that takes this Bullock line back 6 more generations to 1600s England. Among the interesting histories are many valid and compelling connections. There are, however, also differences between her data and that presented here that challenges us--or me--to sort out more facts. I am eager to use use Ms. Elliott's and others' work as a guide for further investigation, but will resist incorporating new connections until I am able to identify more directly the sources of the information. The following people appear in different Bullock family notes and documents whose relationships to the family line are not currently clear:
I have tried to be diligent in recording the sources of my information so that it can be judged by myself and others as to its reliability. Just because a record exists does not mean it was recorded accurately, whether by the scribe or the original provider. But such records are helpful in providing us with clues that could help verify our assumptions or point us in new directions.
This document is only as complete and accurate as the information available up to this moment. No doubt it will continue to evolve over time, as it should. Information to share?
