According to an extract of entries in the records for the Census of Scotland, 4 April 1891 (11/4/99, #3167), Alexander, 56 yrs old, widowed, and a coal miner, and sons James (29 yrs old) and Alexander (18 yrs old), also both coal miners, lived at 29 Wynd (Road, Street?), in the district of Cumbernauld, county of Dumbarton, and it had 3 rooms with one or more windows. The number of rooms with windows was probably noteworthy as a measure of living conditions.
