Note: Beers does not show lot numbers on the properties in the 1875 atlas. We added these strictly for the purposes of making it easier to locate a property, and it also indicates the neighboring properties. They are not meant to indicate the actual lot numbers, either in 1875 or present day. Besides what is already shown in the following list, the Carbon Iron Co. owned many more properties. In many ways it was a company town, having grown up around the foundry operations.
The “SIDE” column refers to the side of the street the property is on. Odd numbers are on the south, even are on the north. In a few cases, we gave names to roads that have no names on the map. This pertains mainly to Hill Road, which branches into N. Hill and S. Hill roads. These are located on the right side of the map and are in actuality very steep hills. I’ve no idea what the actual names of these roads are. Mario St. is an extension of Centre St., as can be seen on the map. A few of the owner’s names were very hard to read, but I think we got them right. Spelling done by Beers may be off in a few cases; we generally stuck to the Beers’ way of spelling names. Beers also had a fondness for noting the locations of fountains, there were two in Parryville and they are both shown in the “NOTES” column.
