MARRIAGES
Rev. Richard Webster passed away June 19,
1956. Following his death, guest
ministers filled the pulpit until Rev. I. Aspinwall Hodge became the second
minister in April of 1857. Rev. Hodge served
until near the end of the Civil War when he was succeeded by Rev. Jacob
Bellville. These ministers, along with
several ministers who filled in during absences, recorded the marriages of Book
2.
Whereas
Rev. Webster provided valuable supplemental information within the records he
kept, the later ministers stuck to the basics.
Mainly the records tell of the bride, groom, date of marriage and where
the ceremony took place. In some cases,
the residences of the principals were recorded and in rare cases, additional
information such as the bride’s father’s name was recorded. In a very few cases, I have supplied
additional information; where this is the case, that information appears in red
and in brackets [ - ]
