Judson Hall Sober
1853-1923

From the Shelton Clipper Shelton, Nebraska.


"Judson Sober was born in Danville, Pennsylvania May 27, 1853. He was better known as "Tom". He died September 16, 1923 at Waterford, New York. At age 18 he came to Nebraska. In 1876 he worked in a smelter at Leadville, Colorado and a year or two later took a homestead on the Republican River Valley near Wilcox.

"In the early eighties Mr. Sober came to Hamilton County, Nebraska. On July 4, 1883 he married Lizzie S. Wilson, the ceremony being performed in a small town near Aurora, Nebraska. The same year they came to the community of Shelton. In the spring of 1920 Mr. Sober sold his land and moved his family to Waterford, New York.

"He was the father of ten children; eight of which with the mother survive:

"Aaron Sober died at age 20, May 5, 1908. Fred E. Sober - missing in action in France, World War I.

"Interment was in Shelton Cemetery."
