Letters of Administration on Estate of Richard Melony, Yeoman, of Sussex County, DE
Dated 10 February 1776

 

KNOW all Men by these PRESENTS, That we Littleton Townson of Sussex aforesaid, Yeoman and William Bell, Jun'r of the same County, Yeoman are held and firmly bound unto the Honourable John Penn, Esq. Governor of the Counties of New-Castle, Kent and Sussex, upon Delaware, in the Sum of one hundred pound(s) current Money of this Government, to be paid unto the said Governor, or his Successor, the Governor for the Time being; to the which Payment well and truly to be made, we hereby bind ourselves, our Heirs, Executors and Administrators, jointly and severally, firmly by these presents. Sealed with our Seals, and dated at Lewes, in Sussex aforesaid, this 10th Day of feburary (Sic) in the Year of our Lord One Thousand Seven Hundred and Sevety Six.

THE CONDITION of the OBLIGATION is such, That if the abovebounden Littleton Townson, Administrator of all and singular the Goods, Chattles and Credits of Richard Melony late of Sussex aforesaid, Yeoman deceased, do make, or cause to be made, a true and prefect Inventory of all and singular the Goods, Chattles and Credits of the said Deceased, which have or shall come to the Hands, Possession or Knowledge of him the said Littleton Townson or into the Hands or Possession of any other Person, for him and the same so made do exhibit, or cause to be exhibited, into the Register's Office for the County aforesaid, at or before the 8th Day of May next ensuing, and the same Goods, Chattles and Credits of the said Deceased, at the Time of his Death, or which at any Time after, shall come into the Hands or Possession of the said Littleton Townson or into the Hands or Possession of any other Person or Persons for him do well and truly administer, according to Law; and further do make, or cause to be made, a true and just Account of your said Administration, at or before the 8th Day of feburary (Sic) next following; and all the Rest and Residue of the said Goods, Chattles and Credits, which shall be found remaining upon the said Administrator Account, the same being first examined and allowed of by the Orphan's Court of the County of Sussex aforesaid, shall deliver and pay unto such Person or Persons respectively, as the said Orphan's Court, by their Decree or Sentence, pursuant to the true Intent and Meaning of the Act of Assembly, in the Case made and provided, shall limit and appoint; that then the above Obligation to be void, and of none Effect, or else the same to be and remain in full Force, Power and Virtue.
