I first encountered information regarding my Fey family ancestry through my maternal grandmother, Esther Marie Fey (1913-2000). She just passed away in June, 2000 and her loss is still difficult. She was like a second mother to me. Her warm personality and loving nature always reassured me and we spent much time together when I was alone. I especially loved her cooking. Dishes like slum, salmon cakes and hand-picked vegetables from my grandfather's garden always made dinner a treat.

I lost my dear Nan on June 1, 2000. I miss her more than most people should miss someone. She was a grandmother that listened to me. I would call her and we talk for a long time. This pic was taken in 1988 when she returned to Cincinnati from California. She and my grandpa moved there in 1984. I was sort of shocked they moved so far away from us, but I think they really enjoyed living there. Much of this site is dedicated to my grandma, to honor her family and to remember them.

I miss her so much

I love you Nana!

When I began my research into genealogy, I began to ask her questions regarding her family. I was already familiar with her father George (1887-1976) and her mother Philomena "Minnie" (1895-1974).

But I never had discussed beyond that. One day, during the conversation I was having with her, I asked her what her grandfather's name was. She actually had to think for a split second and told me it was Peter Fey.

The Fey family lived in Cincinnati, Ohio in the St. Bonaventure parish, which is located currently in the South Fairmount and Westwood area of Western Cincinnati. It's a grand old church with it's steeples, and she recalls leading the procession as early as 1918 for the vocation ceremony of one of her cousins.

Here is Esther's family as I can currently place it. Subject to correction, but most of the information is from census records and grandma's memory.

That is all for now...maybe more later.. since most of these people are still living, I can't be too careful with supplying information without their permission.
