Harold Royal Haag, 74, Wishek, N.D., died Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2003, at his residence.
Mr. Haag was born Feb. 21, 1928, near Fredonia, N.D., the son of Nathaniel and Maria (Oelke) Haag. He grew up and attended school in Haag Township near Fredonia. In October 1951, he joined the U.S. Army and served in the Korean War as a tank platoon leader. After his discharge, he returned to the family farm near Fredonia. He married Joyce Ziebart on Sept. 24, 1954, at Martin Luther Lutheran Church in Fredonia. They began farming in the Fredonia area where they lived until their son, Keith, took over the family farm in 1992. They then moved to Wishek. He was a lifelong member of Martin Luther Lutheran Church. He enjoyed reading, collecting toy farm implements, fishing, visiting at the local cafe and continuing to help on the family farm.
He is survived by his wife; a son, Keith (Kathy), Fredonia; a daughter, Velma (Dan) Conway, Poynette, Wis.; two brothers, Ray (Katie), Kulm, N.D., and Roland, Cove Creek, Ariz.; four sisters, Esther (Allen) Ellington, Meridian, Texas, Lavina Barkle, Fredonia, Bernitta (Raymond) Krueger, Kulm, and Aileen (Delmar) Walz, Brooklyn Park, Minn.; and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and four sisters.
Services: 11 a.m.
Saturday, Martin Luther Lutheran Church, Fredonia, with the Rev. Ray Heidke
officiating.
Visitation: 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. today, Dahlstrom Funeral Home, Wishek, and
one hour before the service at the church.
Burial: Martin Luther Lutheran Cemetery, near Fredonia.

Raymond Reinhold Haag, 84, Kulm, N.D., died Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2003, at his home while under hospice care.
Mr. Haag was born Oct. 25, 1919, on the family farm one mile west of Fredonia, N.D., the son of Nathaniel and Maria (Oelke) Haag. He attended school in Haag Township. At age 18 he joined the Civil Conservation Corps. He was inducted into the U.S. Army on June 22, 1942, and served as a medic in the European, African and Middle Eastern theaters. After his discharge in 1945, he returned to the family farm. He married Katherina Kleingartner on Oct. 21, 1947. They farmed one mile north of the Haag family farm from 1949 to 2002, when they moved to Kulm. He was a lifelong member of Martin Luther Lutheran Church, Fredonia, a member of the American Legion for 58 years and served on the board of Haag Township for 30 years. He enjoyed baseball, creating and collecting farm toys, and golf.
He is survived by his wife; a daughter, Pauline (Mike Crawford), Vista, Calif.; four sons, Glynn (Dianne), Apple Valley, Minn., Alvin (Theresa), Jamestown, Todd (Debra), Upland, Calif., and Timothy (Lisa), Ham Lake, Minn.; a brother, Roland, Cove Creek, Ariz.; four sisters, Esther (Allen) Ellington, Meridian, Texas, Lavina Burkle, Fredonia, Bernita (Raymond) Krueger, Kulm, and Aileen (Delmar) Walz, Brooklyn Park, Minn.; nine grandchildren and a great-grandson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and four sisters.
Services: 1 p.m.

Mrs. Catherine Haas, Gackle, Dies at home, Funeral held Wednesday
Funeral services were held at Gackle yesterday for Mrs. Catherine Haas of that town, who died at her home Saturday afternoon. Burial was in the Seventh Day Adventist cemetery.
Mrs. Haas was born in South Russia and married to Frederick Haas in 1883. Three years later they came to the United States, living in Emery S.D., for a year and at Venturia, N.D., before going to Gackle, which has been their home since 1913.
Survivors are her husband, three sons, four daughters, and a brother and
sister, 13 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Lloyd Paul Haas, 71, Jamestown, North Dakota died Wednesday, September 13, 2006 at Kindred Hospital in Phoenix, Arizona, following a long battle with cancer.
Mr. Haas was born September 21, 1934 in Gackle, ND, the son of Gottlieb and Emma (Walcker) Haas. He grew up on the family farm and attended country schools. Lloyd married Sharon Bietz on January 26, 1958 in Jamestown. He continued to farm the family's homestead where he raised cattle and grains. Lloyd was active in the Seventh Day Adventist Church of Cleveland and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
Lloyd is survived by his wife, Sharon, of Jamestown; two children, Cynthia Golden and Kevin (Sara) Haas, both of Jamestown; four grandchildren: Joshua (Andrea) Golden, Honolulu, HI, Crystal (Grant) Krapp, Abriel Haas and Natasha Haas all of Jamestown; two sisters and two brothers, Edna Haas, Lodi, CA, Ben (Maryann) Haas, Beaverton, OR, Clara Dagastino, St. Paul, MN and Tim (Debbie) Haas, Lodi, CA and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother, one son, Gregory Haas, three brothers, one sister and a brother-in-law.

The funeral for Otto Hack, 87, Jamestown, N.D., will be at 10:30 Tuesday in First Baptist Church, Jamestown. Visitation will be from noon to 9 Sunday and from 9 to 9 Monday in Eddy Funeral Home, Jamestown, and one hour before services in the church. He died Friday, Nov. 6, 1992.
Mr. Hack was born Sept. 30, 1905, in Wimbledon, N.D., where he grew up and attended school. He married Pauline Lang Nov. 20, 1933, in Jamestown. They lived in Jamestown, where he worked for Midland Continental Railroad until retiring in 1967. She died in 1983.
He is survived by two daughters, Rosella (Mrs. Harry) Everding, Jamestown, and Barbara Ann (Mrs. Melvin) Hoff, Libby, Mont.; and three grandchildren.

Wilfred Frank Hahne, 61, Fredonia, N.D., died Tuesday, Nov. 14, 2006, at St. Alexius Hospital, Bismarck, N.D.
Mr. Hahne was born Oct. 23, 1945, at Eureka, S.D., the son of Jacob and Elizabeth (Bauer) Hahne. He grew up on a farm near Herreid, S.D. He attended country school and was a 1964 graduate of Herreid High School. He worked in construction and at the arsenal in Minneapolis. He entered the U.S. Army on Sept. 20, 1967. He served in Vietnam and was discharged in 1969. He returned to Minneapolis and worked for Foley Manufacturing as a punch press operator for three years. He married Betty Wald on July 11, 1970, at St. Michael’s Church in Herreid. In 1973, they moved to Fredonia. He farmed for a short time and then worked for Farmer’s Elevator for 31 years. He was employed by Fargo Assembly, Lehr, N.D., during the last year. He was a member of Transfiguration Catholic Church, Edgeley, N.D., and Fredonia American Legion. He enjoyed vegetable gardening and making beet wine.
He is survived by his wife; a daughter, Denise (Doug) Palmer, Fredonia; two sons, Dennis (Tana), Forbes, N.D., and Russell (Dawn), Kulm, N.D.; two sisters, Lorraine Collins, Selby, S.D., and Mary Hahne, Linton, N.D.; two brothers, Tom (Myra), Selby, and Donald (Jolene), Lehr; and eight grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Robert, Bernard, Tony, Arnold and Joseph; and a sister, Loretta.
Services: 10:30 a.m.
Saturday, Transfiguration Catholic Church, Edgeley.
Prayer service: 7:30 p.m. today at the church.
Visitation: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. today, Lisko Funeral Chapel, Edgeley, and one hour

Norbert Samuel Halberg, who moved to Brush Prairie in 1964 and became a cabinetmaker, died Monday, Feb. 12, 2001, at home. He was 76.
A funeral will begin at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Old Apostolic Lutheran Church, 16603 N.E. 142nd Ave., Brush Prairie. The casket will be open 7 to 9 p.m. today at the church. Burial will be in the Elim Cemetery in Brush Prairie. Layne's Funeral Home in Battle Ground is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Halberg was born Dec. 4, 1924, in Gackle, N.D.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Esther V., at home; five daughters, Ethel Bolsoy, Dottie Wantaja, Marie Lunzman, Beth Lipe and Carolyn Redinger, all of Clark County; eight sons, Norb, Ronald, Robert, Arthur, Bill, Dan, Rod and Matt, all of Clark County; one sister, Hannah Hammerstrom of Hancock, Mich.; one stepbrother, Clifford Halberg of Burnsville, Minn.; 89 grandchildren; and 69 great-grandchildren.
He was a lifelong
member of the Old Apostolic Lutheran Church.

Paul Hample, 73, LaMoure, N.D., died Monday, Oct. 2, 2006, at his home under hospice care.
Mr. Hample was born Nov. 23, 1932, at Glover, N.D., the son of Theodore G. and Myrtle (Barton) Hample. He grew up and attended rural schools before graduating from LaMoure (N.D.) High School in 1951. He worked for the LaMoure County Highway Department, Hi-way Service Center and E.B. Steling Excavating, all LaMoure. He married Mavis Schuldheisz on Aug. 26, 1956, at LaMoure. They began Hample’s Excavating in 1958 and owned and operated it with their sons. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, LaMoure Fire Department, Lake LaMoure board, LaMoure Swimming Pool Board and the LaMoure City Council. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and time at the lake.
He is survived by his wife; three sons, Keith and Todd, both LaMoure, and Wayne (Kerry), Wahpeton, N.D.; two brothers, Jack Reilly, Fergus Falls, Minn., and Charles Hample, Ellendale, N.D.; four sisters, Maxine Marvick, Loveland, Colo., Marilyn Norwick, Billings, Mont., Carmen (Darwin) Heyd, Pierre, S.D., and Shirley (Darwyn) Worrel, LaMoure; and five grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Brian; his parents; a brother, Ted; and a sister, Veragene Ness.

Bertha E. Hanneld, 90, Bellevue, Neb., formerly Kulm, N.D., died Monday, Nov. 8, 2004, at Hillcrest Nursing Home, Bellevue.
Bertha E. Doering was born Sept. 21, 1914, near Kulm, N.D., the daughter of Edward and Maria (Grosz) Doering. She grew up and received her education in the Kulm area. She married Alven A. Hanneld on Oct. 29, 1932, in Hilda, Alberta, Canada. They farmed for many years southwest of Kulm, in Dickey County. They retired to Apache Junction, Ariz. She was a member of the Kulm Zion United Methodist Church, serving as youth counselor for more than 25 years. She was also a member of the Gideon Auxiliary and Faith Westwood United Methodist Church, Omaha, Neb.
She is survived by a daughter, Marion Hanneld, Omaha; a son, Calvin (Sue), Tea, S.D.; a daughter-in-law, Nancy Hanneld, Oklahoma City, Okla.; two sisters, Lydia (Alden) Carlson, Dilworth, Minn., and Violet (Clifton) Bjur, Kulm; three sisters-in-law, Alma Hanneld, New Salem, N.D., Edna Doering, Kulm, and Vonita Doering, Deadwood, S.D.; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

GACKLE - Abner Haro, 88, Gackle, died May 19, 1997, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Emmanual Lutheran Church, Gackle, with the Rev. David Winterfeldt officiating. Burial will be in Old Apostolic Cemetery, south of Gackle. Visitation will be from 9 a.m.-9 p.m. today at Haut Funeral Home, Gackle.
Abner was born Feb. 12, 1909, on the family farm 13 miles southwest of Gackle. He was the son of Jacob and Elizabeth (Sippanen) Haro. He attended the local rural school where he received his elementary education and grew to manhood. He and Edna Ollila were married June 17, 1929, in Napoleon. They made their home on the farm where he farmed from 1926 until 1959. Then he sold the farm and moved to Minneapolis where he did construction work. In 1960 he moved back to Gackle where he worked for Remboldt Implement. He later worked constructing the addition of the Remboldt Locker Plant. He also drove school bus from 1960 until 1968. Then he started his own welding shop in Gackle, he continued to do shop work part time until 1997. He was a member of Old Apostolic Church, south of Gackle. He served as president of the school board in the Nathan School District. When he wasn't busy he enjoyed travel and fishing.
He is survived by his wife, Edna; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Evelyn and Walter Johnson, Aurora, Minn., Nina Haro, Gackle, and Ruth and James Doll, Glen Ullin; three grandchildren, Justin Anderson, Sacramento, Calif., Jessica and Jacqualynn Doll, Glen Ullin; and one sister, Ann Wuollet, Vista, Calif.
He was preceded in
death by his parents; seven brothers; and three sisters.

Edna Haro, 99, Gackle, N.D., died Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2000, at Jamestown Hospital, Jamestown. Edna Ollila was born Sept. 12, 1901, at Ellendale, N.D., the daughter of Jacob and Evelina (Martenson) Ollila. She was baptized and confirmed south of Gackle. After the death of her mother in 1905, she lived with her grandparents. In 1907 she lived with her father on the family farm near Fredonia, where she attended the local rural school and received her elementary education. She married Abner Haro June 17, 1929, at Napoleon, N.D. They lived on her parent's farm from 1929. In 1939 they purchased their own farm and farmed until 1959. They then sold the farm and moved to Minneapolis, Minn., and later moved back to Gackle. He died May 19, 1997. She was a lifelong member of Old Apostolic Lutheran Church.
She is survived by three daughters, Evelyn (Walter) Johnson, Aurora, Minn., Ruth (James) Doll, Glen Ullin, N.D., and Nina Haro, Gackle; and three grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, two brothers and a half brother.
Services: 1 p.m.
Thursday, Nov. 9, Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Gackle, with the Rev. David Winterfeldt

Bertha Harris, 89, Valley City, N.D., died Wednesday, Aug. 27, 2003, at the Sheyenne Care Center, Valley City.
Bertha Stuckle was born April 20, 1914, in Hydro, Mont., the daughter of John and Elizabeth (Donat) Stuckle. At the age of 13, she moved with her family to a farm north of Streeter, N.D. She married George Everett Harris on Jan. 1, 1936. They lived on a farm south of Windsor, N.D., until 1949, when they moved to Jamestown. In 1952, they moved to Valley City. He died June 27, 1997. She later entered the Sheyenne Care Center. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Valley City, and the Naomi Circle of the church.
She is survived by a son, G. Ronald (Rita), Valley City; a daughter, Joyce Nelson, Atlanta Ga.; two sisters, Evanda (Reinhart) Lange, Carrington, N.D., and Evelyn Stuckle, Elgin, Ill.; a brother, E. Don (Phyllis), Plano, Texas; three sisters-in-law, Pearl Fish and Eileen Harris, both Valley City, and Darlene Stuckle, Des Moines, Iowa; a brother-in-law, Ed Thorman, Billings, Mont.; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, three brothers and five sisters.

Emmanuel Hauff, 79, of 432 Eden St, died in a local hospital yesterday morning after a short illness. A native of Roumania, Mr. Hauff had been a resident of Lodi for the past seven years, moving to this city from McClusky, ND. He was a life long member of the Mennonite Brethren Church.
He is survived by his wife, Seloma, of Lodi, and the following children: Gottlieb Hauff, of Menlo Park; Mrs Rose Schroeder, of Gackle, ND; Emil Hauff, of Palo Alto; Mrs Marie Potter, of N Sacramento; Mrs Emma Fandrich, of Kief, ND; Mrs Emma Ebel, of N Sacramento; David Hauff, of Chowchilla; Bennie Hauff, of Drake, ND; and Herbert Hauff of Drake, ND.
He was the stepfather of Edwin Reimche, Harey, ND; Reuben Reimche, of Antioch; Roy Reimche, of Harvey, ND; and Wilbert Reimche of Antioch.
Mr. Hauff also leaves
29 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Lodi funeral home in

Mrs. Saloma Hauff, 76, of 432 Eden St, Lodi passed away yesterday in a local hospital following a lengthy illness.
Born and raised in Parkston, SD, Mrs. Hauff married Christ Reimche in 1905 and lived in Harvey, ND until Reimches death in 1918. In 1919 she married Emanuel Hauff and lived in Anamoose, ND, until they moved to Lodi in 1945.
Mr. Hauff passed away in 1952.
Mrs. Hauff was a member of the Vinewood Community Church (Lodi).
Survivors are: five sons, Edwin Reimche of Lodi, Roy Reimche of Harvey ND, Ruben and Wilbert Reimche, both of Antioch, and Herber Hauff of Anamoose, ND; four stepsons- Gottleib Hauff, Freson, Emil Hauff of Palo Alto; Dave Hauff of Chowchilla, and Ben Hauff of Drake, ND; four step daughters; Mrs Rose Schroeder of Gackle ND, Mrs Marie Gallaty of Lincoln, Mrs Emma Fandrich of Kief ND, Mrs Alma Ebel of Sacramento; one brother, Dave Renke of Portland, OR; tow sisters, Mrs Mara Serro of Lodi & Mrs Amelia Gross of Lompoc; 15 grandchildren & 10 great grandchildren.

Emma Haupt, 98, Wishek, N.D., died Monday, Dec. 23, 2002, at Wishek Nursing Home, Wishek.
Emma Buerkle was born Nov. 17, 1904, at Fredonia, N.D., the daughter of Martin and Eva (Oberlander) Buerkle. She attended the local school where she received her elementary education and grew up in the area. She married Rudolf Haupt on Feb. 4, 1923, in Venturia, N.D. They lived on a farm near Venturia and farmed until 1956. They moved to West Fargo, N.D., in 1956 and did custodial work for various businesses until they retired. He died in 1987. She continued to live in West Fargo until she entered Wishek Nursing Home on Aug. 18, 1998. She was a member of Pontoppidan Lutheran Church, West Fargo, the Ladies Aid and Homemakers Club. She enjoyed quilting, raising chickens, growing her garden and was an excellent cook.
She is survived by a son, Howard, Jamestown; 12 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three sons, two sisters, six half brothers and three half sisters.
Services: 1 p.m.
Friday, Haut Funeral Home, Wishek, with the Rev. Marty Toepke-Floyd
officiating.

Eugene N. Haut, 80, Jamestown, ND died early Thursday morning June 24, 2004 at the Jamestown Hospital in Jamestown, ND.
Gene Haut was born October 31, 1923 at Gackle, ND, the son of Norbert J. Haut and Maleta M. (Newmann) Haut. He received his education in the Gackle Public School, N.D.A.C. at Fargo, ND, Iowa State College in Ames, IA and Graduated from the St. Louis College of Mortuary Science in St. Louis, MO in 1951. On May 20, 1943 he enlisted in the service of his country at Fort Snelling, MN. He served in the European Theater with 1150 Engr. Combat group and was discharged April 15, 1946 with the rank PFC. He started Haut Funeral Home in Gackle in the fall of 1953.
He and Muriel M. Schauer were married June 17, 1958 at Streeter, ND. They made their home in Gackle where Gene worked at Haut and Marckel Hardware and Furniture and operated the Haut Funeral Home. In 1968 the family moved to Jamestown continuing to operate the funeral home in Gackle and opening the Haut Funeral Home in Jamestown. Following his retirement in 1985 he has continued to be active in the funeral business helping his sons Gary and Roger.
He was a member of the Basilica of St. James, Jamestown, ND. He had been very active in the Gackle community affairs. He served in the Gackle Volunteer Fire Department, Mayer-Morlock Post American Legion, Past Commander and Chairman of the Building Committee, Chamber of Commerce, Lions Club, Gackle Community Development Board, Photographer of Gackle 50th Jubilee Book, Initiated and maintained ambulance service 1953-1965 and worked with South Central ND Health Assoc. He was also a member of the Jamestown, Eagles Aerie 2337, Jamestown Elks and Knights of Columbus 4th Degree.
He is survived by his 5 Children Gary (Jan) Haut, Roger (Margo) Haut, Ann Haut, all of Jamestown, ND; Alan (Missy) Haut, Fargo, ND; Jay (Nicole) Haut, Jamestown; 7 grandchildren, Mike, Truman, Lexus, Chandler, Adam, Ethan and Gavin, 1 sister, Collette (Ervin) Eissinger, Gackle, ND, 1 brother-in-law, Don Lauer, Bloomington, MN, 2 nieces, 1 nephew and a special friend Vi Batsch, Jamestown, ND.
He was preceded in death by his parents and 1 sister, Charlotte Lauer.
The Funeral service will be at 10:30 AM Monday June 28, 2004 at the Basilica of St. James, Jamestown, ND, with Fr. Al Bitz, officiating.
The Interment will be at the Gackle Cemetery, Gackle, ND

AITKIN -- Alfred A. Havisto, 83, Aitkin and formerly of Palisade, died Friday, Oct. 22, 1999, at the Riverwood Extended Care Center in Aitkin.
He was born Jan. 10, 1916, in Gackle, N.D., to Arvid and Hilma (Jopi) Havisto. He moved with his family at an early age to the Pine River area, where he grew up and attended school. He married Norma Thomas on Nov. 11, 1939, in Aitkin. They lived at Esquagamah Lake near Palisade and farmed there for 22 years. They then moved to Palisade. He worked as a logger and operated a mill for many years. He also worked for a short time for the Mesabi railroad and then for the Palisade Creamery driving a milk truck for 12 years until his retirement. They moved to Aitkin in 1976 and had lived there ever since. His wife died in July 1999.
Survivors include three sons, Alvin Havisto, Ramsey, Robert Havisto, Aitkin, and David Havisto, Nisswa; a daughter, Joanne Ellis, Aitkin; two brothers, Ben Havisto, Rockford, and John Havisto, Cokato; a sister, Martha Schwartz, Wadena; 12 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
His parents; his wife; a son, Jackie; two brothers and six sisters died earlier.
Services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Sorensen-Root-Thompson Funeral Home with Rev. Robert Munneke officiating. Burial will be in the Waukenabo Cemetery.
Friends may call from
4-8 p.m. today and from noon until 1 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Artie Hehn, Longtime Resident Dies in Stanley
Artie E. Hehn, 43, Stanley, North Dakota, long time resident of the Gackle community died suddenly Wednesday noon October 14, 1964 at the family home in Stanley. Death was attributed to a heart condition.
He was born May 17, 1921 at Omemee North Dakota, the son of Edward Hehn and Elizabeth Remboldt Hehn. In the year 1924 the family moved to the Streeter area, where they farmed until 1932 when they moved to the Gackle community. He attended the local schools and grew to manhood in the Gackle and Streeter area.
On June 4, 1944 he and Eldina Sommerfeld were married in Gackle, North Dakota, where he worked as an employee until 1951. During the past thirteen years he was employed as a parts sales manager for the Remboldt Garage & Implement in Gackle. The family moved to Stanley on September 1, 1964, where he was employed by the Stanley Equipment Company as a parts sales manager. He was a member of the Gackle Fire Department.
Surviving are his wife, one daughter, Darlen Hehn, Fargo, North Dakota; his father, Edward Hehn; his stepmother, Mrs. Magdalena Fischer Steinstra Hehn, Gackle, N.D.; one brother, Eddie H. Hehn, rural Gackle; one sister, Lydia (Mrs. Walter Fischer), Jamestown; one step brother, Clifford Steinstra, Moorhead, Minn.; one step sister, Frances (Mrs. Burley Kirkoff), Kalamazoo, Mich.
He was preceded in death by his mother in 1942, one sister, Mrs. Ed C. Remboldt in 1959.
The funeral service for Artie E. Hehn, Stanley, North Dakota and formerly of Gackle, was held on Saturday, October 17, 1964 at the First Congregational Church in Gackle with Rev. Emanuel Gackle, pastor, officiating.
Mrs. Emanuel Gackle played a program of organ music as friends and relatives came into and left the church. "Beyond the Sunset" was sung by a trio; Mrs. Helen Speidel, Mrs. Arthur Remboldt, Mrs. Fred F. Lang with Mrs. Arthur Brandenburg playing the accompaniment. A solo "After" was sung by Miss Shelia Fischer with Mrs. Emanuel Gackle playing the accompaniment.
The pallbearers were Walter Deutscher, Lenhardt Rivinius, Oliver Otto, Lloyd Janke, Lloyd Schopp and Edwin Remmich. Burial was in the Gackle Cemetery at Gackle, North Dakota with the Haut Funeral Home in Gackle in charge of arrangements. Members of the Gackle Volunteer Fire Department attended as an Honorary Group.
Many friends and
relatives from Gackle and the surrounding communities of Streeter, Medina,
Cleveland, Alfred, Jud and Fredonia.

Caren Hehn, 61, Gackle, N.D., died Friday, Aug. 22, 2993[2003], at her home.
Caren Jane Maier was born July 9, 1942, at Hazelton, N.D., the daughter of Gottlieb and Edna (Schnaidt) Maier. She attended Streeter (N.D.) Public School and graduated from Streeter High School in 1961. She worked at Streeter Grocery and Parkway Cafe in Jamestown. She married Myron Hehn on May 26, 1963, at Streeter. They lived in Gackle where she worked at the grocery store. They moved to the Hehn farmstead north of Gackle in 1967, where they have farmed and resided since. She was an active member of Grace Baptist Church and the Gleaners. She enjoyed nature, the outdoors and gardening.
She is survived by her husband; two daughters, Camie (Tag) Anderson, Bismarck, N.D., and Jody (John) Hoberg, New Zealand; her mother, Streeter; four sisters, Alice (Clyde) Remboldt, Jamestown, Carolynn (James) Burkle, Eagan, Minn., Beverly (Arnie) Schumacker, Streeter, and Paulette (Steve) Kirschenmann, Napoleon, N.D.; two brothers, Allen (Marge), Bismarck, and Roger, Jamestown; a special friend, Steve (Jeanna) Miller, Gackle; and three grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father, two sisters and a brother.
Services: 2 p.m.
Tuesday, Grace Baptist Church, Gackle, with the Rev. Allen Finger
officiating.
Prayer service: 7:30 p.m. today at the church.

Eddie Hehn, 73, Fargo, N.D., died Thursday, Feb. 4, 1999, in his home.
Mr. Hehn was born Feb. 1, 1926, near Streeter, N.D. He attended school in Gackle, N.D. On June 20, 1952, he married Frieda Miller in Jamestown, N.D. They lived in Gackle, where he was a commercial trucker for 47 years. She died in 1987. He continued to live in Gackle until 1991, when he moved to Fargo. On May 7, 1991, he married Wilma Larson in Fargo. They lived in Fargo, where he worked for Sam's Club from 1991 until last month. He also worked for Star Automotive, Fargo, which is owned by his son, Jerome.
He is survived by his wife; four sons, Jerome, Fargo, Dean, Sheridan, Wyo., Ronald, Hawley, Minn., Darryl, Gackle; two stepsons, Jim (Lori) Larson, Valley ...

Edward Hehn, 72, Gackle Pioneer, Dies Unexpectedly
Edward Hehn, 72, longtime resident of the Gackle community died unexpectedly late Friday evening, Nov. 13, at his home in Gackle. His death was attributed to a heart condition.
He was born Feb. 24, 1892 in Neiburg, So. Russia, the son of Andrew Hehn and Katherine Heinrich Hehn. At the age of 14 he came with his parents to the United States in 1906, when they settled in the vicinity northeast of Gackle in Stutsman County.
In 1914 he and Elizabeth Remboldt were married in Jamestown. They farmed in the Gackle and Streeter community until moving to a farm near Omemee. A short time later they returned to the Gackle and Streeter area. Following the death of his wife, he continued to live on the farm.
In 1943 he and Mrs. Magdalena Fischer Stienstra were married in Aberdeen, S.D. They farmed until the fall of 1945 when they moved to Jamestown where he was employed at the North Dakota State Hospital. When he retired in 1959, they made their home in Gackle.
Surviving are his wife, one son Eddie H. Hehn, Gackle, daughter, Mrs. Walter Fischer, Jamestown; eight grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. John Wetzel, Bottineau, one step son, Clifford Stienstra, Moorhead, Minn., one step daughter, Mrs. Burely Kirkolf, Kalamazoo, Mich.
He was proceeded in death by his parents, one daughter, one grandson, one son, Artie M. Hehn, four brothers, and one sister.
The funeral service
was Nov. 17, at the Grace Baptist Church in Gackle with Rev. Bernard
Edinger, pastor, officiating. Burial was in the Gackle Cemetery. (Haut
Funeral Home).

Emma Hehn, 84, Wishek, N.D., died Wednesday July 9, 2003, at Wishek Nursing Home, Wishek.
Emma Schlecht was born Nov. 2, 1918, in Fredonia, N.D., the daughter of Karl and Christine (Speidel) Schlecht. She grew up and attended school at Gackle, N.D. She married Eddie Hehn on Sept. 24, 1944, in Gackle. They lived on a farm southeast of Gackle, where they farmed for a year. They moved to her parents’ family farm 15 miles south of Gackle, and farmed there until moving into Gackle, in the fall of 1991. He died Oct. 12, 1991. In September 1999, she entered Wishek Nursing Home. She was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Gackle.
She is survived by two brothers, Arthur, Battle Grove, Wash., and Hilbert, Everett, Wash.; and a sister, Elsie Dodd, Everett.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, five sisters and five brothers.
Services: 10:30 a.m.
Monday, Grace Baptist Church, Gackle, with the Rev. Jim Dick officiating.
Prayer service: 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Haut Funeral Home, Gackle.
Visitation: 1 to 9 p.m. today and 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral
home.

Alvin E. Hehr, 67, Colorado Springs, Colo., died of cancer Dec. 30, 2001, in a Colorado Springs hospital.
Mr. Hehr was born Feb. 4, 1934, at Fredonia, N.D., the son of Emil and Emma (Buerkle) Hehr. He married Betty Lo Stoecker of Hosmer, S.D., in 1966. He served in the U.S. Army in Korea. After his discharge, he farmed and then started his own well drilling business, digging many wells in North Dakota for many farmers. He then moved to Kansas where he worked for various drilling companies, later moving to Anaconda, N.M. When the company closed he began driving truck for Martin company in Colorado for 10 years. He retired in February 1999 due to injury on the job.
He is survived by his wife; a son, Chaison, Colorado Springs; a daughter, Dawn Hehr, Colorado Springs; three sisters, Lucille Kennedy, Jamestown, Euella Wolf, Fredonia, and Diane Hehr, Monticello, Minn.; five brothers, Lester (Arlene) and LeRoy (Betty), Fredonia, Thilmer, Sacramento, Calif., Larry (Maureen), Colorado Springs, and Donald (Judy), Miramar, Fla.; and a grandson.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Dillard, in 1997.
Services: held Jan. 1
at Mountain View Mortuary Chapel, Colorado Springs.
Memorial service: will be held in Fredonia in the spring.

Emily Hehr, 80, Kulm, N.D., died Sunday, Aug. 18, 2002, at Hi-Acres Manor Nursing Center, Jamestown.
Emily Hoffer was born Aug. 11, 1922, in Kulm, the daughter of Andrew and Elizabeth (Schuldheisz) Hoffer. She grew up and attended school in the Kulm area. In 1942 she traveled to Richmond, Calif., where she worked for a year in the Kaiser Shipyards. She married Reuben Hehr on Dec. 19, 1943, in Kulm. They lived in Kulm. She took many foster children into her home so they could attend their special education school in Kulm. She also provided daycare for many children in the Kulm community.
She is survived by her husband; two sons, Lester (Marilyn), Craig, Colo., and Lloyd (Sarah), Fessenden, N.D.; four daughters, Peggy (Daniel) Welle, Pelican Rapids, Minn., Linda (Duane) Smith, Casselton, N.D., Colleen Hehr, Kulm, and Kathy (Tim) Nill, Jamestown; 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her siblings and two grandchildren.
Services: 2 p.m.
Wednesday, St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Kulm, with the Rev. Alan Eppen
officiating.
Prayer service: 7 p.m. today, Dahlstrom Funeral Home, Kulm.
Visitation: 1 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home and one hour before the service
at the church.

Hilda Hehr, 93, Edgeley, N.D., died Friday, Jan. 14, 2005, at St. Rose Care Center, LaMoure, N.D.
Hilda Tiede was born March 31, 1911, in Fredonia, N.D., the daughter of Johann and Katherina (Ziegler) Tiede. She grew up and attended the rural school in the area, where she helped on the family farm. She married Alvin Tiede on June 18, 1939, in Kulm, N.D. They lived on his parent’s farm for two years and then moved to a farm northeast of Edgeley. He died Jan. 6, 1995. She continued to reside at the farm. In fall 1995, she moved into Edgeley, and in 1998, she moved to Coon Rapids, Minn., to live with her daughter. In 2000, she moved into St. Joseph Manor, Edgeley, and in 2003, she moved into St. Rose Care Center, LaMoure. She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church, Edgeley.
She is survived by a daughter, Eleanor (Leon) Bender, Minneapolis, Minn.; three grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers and five sisters.
Services: 10 a.m.
Wednesday, Haut Funeral Homes, Jamestown, with the Rev. Russ Whaley
officiating.

Judy Haws Hehr, 60, Miramar, Fla., formerly of Creston, Ill., died Friday, Dec. 31, 2004, at Gainesville, Fla., from complications of a lung transplant.
Judy Haws was born July 14, 1944, the daughter of Frank and Winifried Haws. She married Donald G. Hehr, formerly of Fredonia, N.D., on Sept. 23, 1988, in Miami, Fla. She worked at North Dade (Fla.) Community Church for several years as a daycare teacher.
She is survived by her husband; a son, Patrick L. Davis, Creston, Ill.; a stepdaughter, Kellie (Jason) Huskey, Plant City, Fla.; three brothers, John J., Myrtle Creek, Ore., Arthur P. (Alice), Rochelle, Ill., and Daniel (Janice), Dekalb, Ill.; a sister, Diane L. (Duane) Tilton, Creston; and two grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by seven brothers.
Services: held Jan.
8, Ungers Horner Funeral Home, Rochelle.
Burial: St. Patrick Catholic Cemetery, Rochelle.

LeRoy Hehr, 63, Fredonia, N.D., died Saturday, April 22, 2006, at the South MeritCare Hospital, Fargo, N.D.
Mr. Hehr was born Jan. 26, 1943, at the family farm, 4 1/2 miles north of Fredonia, the son of Emil and Emma (Buerkle) Hehr. He attended the local rural school, where he received his elementary education and helped on the family farm. The family moved to Fredonia in 1963. He married Betty Ann Reeb April 24, 1971, at Fredonia. They lived on the family farm 5 miles north of Fredonia. He was a member of Martin Luther Lutheran Church, church council, Lions Club, Fredonia Fire Department and served as Logan County Supervisor for Janke Township and Economic Development Board. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing cards.
He is survived by his wife; three sons, Tim, Tempe, Ariz., Chad (Melissa Dewald), West Fargo, N.D., and Mark, Buchanan, N.D.; four brothers, Lester (Arlene), Fredonia, Thilmer, Sacramento, Calif., Larry, Colorado Springs, Colo., and Donald, Miramar, Fla.; three sisters, Lucille Kennedy, Jamestown, Euella Wolf, Fredonia, Diane Hehr, Monticello, Minn.; and a stepgranddaughter.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.

Fall Is Fatal To Young Gackle Boy
Falling from a horse Sunday, Raymond R. Hehr, of near Gackle, died Tuesday at Jamestown hospital. The accident occurred at the farm home, 15 miles south of Gackle.
Funeral services will be held at the Jacobs Lutheran church near Gackle, Friday afternoon.
Raymond was born in
Logan county December 13, 1927, and in addition to his parents is survived
by three brothers and three sisters.

U.S. Veteran Thilmer Willie Hehr, 66, Sacramento, CA, passed away Tuesday October 31, 2006 at his home in Sacramento, after a long courageous battle with cancer.
Thilmer Hehr was born May 7, 1940 at Fredonia, ND, the son of Emil Hehr and Emma (Buerkle) Hehr. He attended school in Fredonia and grew to manhood in the vicinity. He was drafted into the United States Army in 1963 and served 2 years in Germany until 1965 when he was discharged at Fort Carson, CO. He returned home where he worked on the family farm and drilled wells in North Dakota until moving to Miami, FL in 1968 where he began working as a Carpenter, Mason, along with many other talents. In that time, he worked for Curtis and Kaplan of North Miami Beach. In 1985 he moved to Sacramento, CA with his family where he resided until the time of his death.
He was a member of the Carpenters Union, lifetime member of the American Legion Post #1 in Sacramento. He was an avid fisherman and loved spending time on the water in one of his boats out on Pardee Lake. When he wasn’t fishing, he was always lending a helping hand or hammer to a family member, friend or colleague.
He is survived by his 3 girls from his marriage to Joni Hehr, Robin Carlson, Sacramento, CA, Tresa Hehr Braham, MN, Silivia Hehr, Wishek, ND, 2 grandchildren, Kiarah Hehr, Braham, MN, and James Carlson, Sacramento, CA, 3 sisters and 3 brothers, Lucille Kennedy, Jamestown, ND, Lester (Arlene) Hehr, Fredonia, ND, Eulla Wolf, Fredonia, ND, Diane Hehr, Monticello, MN, Donald Hehr, Miramar, FL, and Larry (Maureen) Hehr, Colorado Springs, CO.

He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father Emil Hehr, his mother, Emma (Buerkle) Hehr, and brothers Dillard Hehr, Alvin Hehr and Leroy Hehr.
A memorial service will be held in his honor at American Veterans Post #1 Saturday November 4th, 2006 at 1:00 pm, located at 7215 Lindale Dr, Sacramento, CA 95828.

Lynn Heidinger, 40, Jamestown, died Saturday, March 9, 2002, at Jamestown (N.D.) Hospital.
Lynn Marie Baker was born Sept. 5, 1961, in Jamestown, the daughter of Eldon and Lois (Schrade) Baker. She attended Our Savior's Lutheran School and Jamestown High School. She married Cory Heidinger on April 20, 1979, in Jamestown. They resided a short time in Edgeley, N.D., before moving to Jamestown. She worked at the Jamestown Truck Stop and Depot Cafe. She enjoyed baking, designing cakes, crossword puzzles, reading and drawing.
She is survived by her parents; husband; a son, Nicholas Heidinger, Jamestown; three daughters, Angela Heidinger, Fargo, N.D., and Kyla and Delayna Heidinger, both Jamestown; four brothers, Dana, Neil (Judi) and Lowell (Jacci), all Jamestown, and Gaylon (Barb), Dickinson, N.D.; her mother-in-law, Alvina Heidinger, Edgeley; and a step grandmother, Freida Schrade, Jamestown.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, George and Irma Baker, Glen Schrade and Alma Kleinjan; and her father-in-law, Richard Heidinger.

Jake Heier, 92, Napoleon, N.D., formerly of Gackle, N.D., died Monday, April 5, 2004, at Napoleon Care Center, Napoleon.
Mr. Heier was born Oct. 13, 1911, south of Alfred, N.D., the son of Emmanuel and Christine (Kalmbach) Heier. He grew up in the area and attended the local rural school near Alfred, where he received his elementary education. He farmed north of Gackle and operated an implement business on his farm. He married Florence (Strehle) Dockter on July 1, 1967, in Streeter. They lived on a farm 16 miles north of Gackle until 1976, when he sold the farm and moved his business into Gackle. He retired in 1986. He was a member of St. Lukes Lutheran Church, Streeter, the school board, elevator board, and Kelly Oil Co. in Alfred.
He is survived by his wife; a stepdaughter, Twila (Clayton) Remboldt, Gackle; a stepson, Michael (Mickey) Dockter, Fargo, N.D.; a brother, Emil (Gusty), Jamestown; three sisters, Esther Marker, Montpelier, N.D., and Mary Spangler and Leona (Harold) Squire, both Eugene, Ore.; three stepgrandchildren; and two stepgreat-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Emanuel, John and Sam; and a sister, Martha Suko.
Services: 10:30 a.m.
Saturday, St. Luke Lutheran Church, Streeter, with the Rev. Robert Pestal
officiating.
Visitation: 1 to 5 p.m. Wednesday, Haut Funeral Chapel, Jamestown, and 9

Raymond _Ray Heier, 78, Jamestown, died Sunday, July 9, 2006, at Villa Maria Nursing Home, Fargo, N.D.
Mr. Heier was born March 8, 1928, at Alfred, N.D., the son of John and Pauline (Wagner) Heier. He graduated from Jamestown High School. He worked in the gold mines in western South Dakota. He moved back to Jamestown around 1950. He married Dorothy Stelter in Moorhead, Minn. He worked as a home builder and was employed by Foremost Dairies in Jamestown. He farmed until his retirement. He was a member of the Eagles and Jamestown Country Club. He enjoyed golfing, playing pool, bowling and fishing.
He is survived by his wife; a daughter, Linda (Terry) Richardson, Fargo; a son, Steve (Diane), Fargo; a sister, Delores (Keith) Dennis, Torrington, Wyo.; a brother, Roy (Audrey), Fargo; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.

Death Takes Lodi Woman
Christina Hein, 71, of Lodi, Calif., died at her home Sept. 8 following a long illness.
Mrs. Hein was born in Ashley, N.D., where she grew up and married John Hein Jan. 9, 1913.
The couple farmed there until 1926 when they moved to a farm out of Kulm, and in 1943 they moved into town.
Mrs Hein was the wife of John Hein of Lodi; the mother of Mrs. Viola Fehling of Fredonia, Mrs. Martha Gruneich of Forbes, Mrs. Edna Hoffman of Spokane, Mrs. Esther Dittus of Kulm, and Mrs. Gladys Mundt of Fredonia.
She was the sister of
Mrs. Fredricka Bertsch, Mrs. Maria Schlenker, Mrs. Martha Maier, and Alfred
Fregin all of Ashley.

Kylie Todd Heinle-Ebele passed away on June 23, 2004. He was 17 years old and he was taken from us well before his time.
Kylie was born in Jamestown, ND on July 23, 1986. He lived his entire life in south-central North Dakota, graduating from Edgeley (ND) High School this past spring. He had planned to attend college in Bismarck, ND this fall.
Friendly, funny and charming, Kylie was outgoing who quickly made friends wherever he went. He enjoyed spending time with his many friends, including Kelly Flores, Nick Sarith, and Dakota Boisseaux, having a special fondness for all of them.
Along with his friends, some of Kylie’s other passions included stereos and music, movies, video games, cars, snowmobiling and snowboarding, fishing and camping, and horseback riding. He was most often usually seen wearing the latest styles in brand-name clothes and enjoyed shopping for trend-setting apparel.
Kylie’s endearing smile, the mischievous sparkle in his eyes, and his ever-present sense of humor will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Kylie is survived and loved by: his mother, Lisa Radermacher of Monango, ND; his father, Jerry Ebele of Littleton, CO; his brothers, Christopher Fettig and Lucas Radermacher of Monango; Tyler and Jake Ebele of Littleton, CO; one sister, Tarissa Ebele of Littleton, CO; his great-grandmother, Caroline Heinle, Jamestown, ND; his grandparents, Yvonne & Rick Peterson of Sammamish, WA; Harry and Linda Ebele, Gackle, ND and Tim and Cheryl Heinle, Helena, MT; his uncles, Tom Ebele, Taiwan; Patrick Ebele, Denver, CO; Steve (Mary) Ebele, Denver, CO; Kevin (Tina) Ebele, Lakewood, CO and Todd (Lisa) Wibstad, Jamestown and two aunts Amy (Jack) Gehrke of Sammamish, WA and Chelsey Heinle, Helena, MT.

Former Area Resident Dies
Mrs. Carl C. Heinrich, 75, longtime resident of the Gackle, North Dakota community, died Friday evening, July 28, 1967, at the Gackle Hospital in Gackle, where she had been hospitalized for about two weeks.
Katherine Remboldt was born September 5, 1891 near Menno in Hutchinson County, South Dakota, the daughter of Ernest Remboldt and Fredricka Lutz Remboldt. In the year 1893 the family moved to Antelope Valley northeast of Ashley, N.D. Two years later in 1895, they homesteaded on a farm three miles northeast of Gackle in Stutsman County, where she attended the local rural school and grew to womanhood in Griffin Township.
She and Carl C. Heinrich were married in the year 1908 at Jamestown, N.D. They lived and farmed on his homestead and continued to farm five miles north [east] of Gackle in Stutsman County until 1943 when they moved into Gackle. Presently their son Wesley and family is living on the home place.
Surviving are her husband, four sons and two daughters, Aaron Heinrich, Lodi, Calif., Alice (Mrs. Carl Schroeder), Esther (Mrs. Gust G. Lang), both of Lincoln, Nebr., Oscar Heinrich, Atlanta, Georgia, Emanuel Heinrich, Yuba City, Calif.; Wesley C. Heinrich, Gackle, N.D.; eighteen grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, two brothers, John Remboldt, and Christ Remboldt, both of Gackle, N.D.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one son in infancy, four brothers and three sisters.
