Woolhope, a wide and extensive Parish, is situated about eight miles from Hereford, and the same distance from Ledbury. This locality, like most other parts of the county, abounds with fine planted orchards and hop gardens. Buckenhill is a Township to this Parish.

The Church, a venerable old building, is situated at the end of the Village; it is built with stone, and has a square tower without spire. The Rev. Francis Merewether, M. A., Rector; Messrs. Daniel Biggs and Thomas Sowdon, Churchwardens, Mr. William Wood, Clerk. Service - 11 a.m. and 3 p.m.

There are two Schools, principally supported by the Rector and Lady Emily Foley, they are situated in the Village, near the Church. Average number of scholars, 50. Mr. Charles Watkins, Master; Ann Watkins, Mistress.
