Offutt, Clyde April 15, 1915 - April 24, 2000

Clyde Offutt, 85, a resident of Sweet Home,
died at the Lebanon Community Hospital on Monday, April 24, 2000.
He was born on April 15, 1915 in Idabell, Oklahoma, the son of Joseph Lee
and Mary Ann Haskins Offutt. He lived in Oklahoma until entering
the Army during World War II. Her He served
in five major battles in Europe as part of the 43rd Armored Division.
After the service he moved to Shamrock, Texas, where his father was farming
cotton. While there he met and married the love of his life, Eddie
Irwin in 1949. They moved to Oregon in 1955. He went to work
for Champion International until retiring in 1975. He and Eddie moved
to Sweet Home in 1979. Clyde enjoyed traveling, fishing, and spending
time with his family. He was an active member of the Sweet Home Penticostal
Church on Ninth Avenue in Sweet Home.
He is survived by his wife Eddie, of Sweet
Home; daughters Jean Peterman of Lebanon and Carolyn Hopper of Lebanon;
sons George Offutt of Sweet Home, Ernest Offutt of Brownsville and Allen
Offutt of Brownsville; along with 11 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
Also surviving are sisters Nadine Brown of Lubbock, Texas, and Juanita
Bayer of Brownsville, Texas.
Graveside services were held on April 28th
in the Liberty Cemetery with Pastor Tom Grenz officiating. The Workman
& Stecly Funeral Chapel handled the arrangements.
