Church Records for the Year 1835

January the Second Saturday 1835. Church met at Big Spring and after worship proceeded to business. 1st Mehata Cheek excommunicated for the sin of whoredom.

February Second Saturday 1835. Church met at Big Spring and after worship proceeded to business. 1st Received Rebecah Cain and Calvin Hurst by letter. 2nd Dismist Thomas Hill, Linda Hill, Henry Hill, Hirum Hurst, Daniel Hurst, Sarah Hurst and Mary Young by letter.

February Fourth Saturday 1835 at Mountain Creek Church met and dismist Zeane Dobs by letter.

March Second Saturday 1835. Church met at Big Spring and after worship proceeded to business. 1st Lifted a charge against Sister Elizabeth Bouls for living with a married man the sin of adultery. On Sunday dismist Mary Cleark by letter.

March Fourth Saturday 1835 at Mountain Creek, received Mary Sellers by letter and dismist Rebeca Ibel by letter.

April Second Saturday 1835. Church met at Big Spring and after worship proceeded to business. 1st Elizabeth Bouls excommunicated for living with a married man in the sin of adultery. 2nd A charge lifted by the church against Thomas Hill for killing of an estray yearling bull without posting of it and for saying he had handed the probate to the deputy rainger when he knew there never was any such thing as a probate or certificate in existance for which crime the church excommunicates him. In consequence of a contradiction existing between Brother Thompson Hurst and Brother Henry Hill, Brother Henry Hill's letter of dismission is retained until the contradiction is reconciled. 4th A charge lifted by the church against Bro. Calvin Hurst for stripping to fight and for making use of profane language. Bro. James Jonson and Crisley Plank appointed to cite him to attend next meeting.

May Second Saturday 1835. Church met at Big Spring and after worship proceeded to business. 1st Brother Calvin Hurst attended according to citation and acknowledged the charge against him and the church agree to bare with him. 2nd James and Sarah Briant and William Hill dismist by letter. 3rd A charge taken up by the church against Brother Miller's Fanne for violating the rules of the gospel in running away from her master without any cause whatever. Brother Thomas Hurst appointed to cite her to attend next meeting.

May Fourth Saturday 1835. Church met at Mountain Creek and received Anny Idel and Nancy Idel by letter.

June Second Saturday 1835. Church met at Big Spring and after worship proceeded to business. 1st The reference relative to Bro. Miller's Fanne deferd to next meeting in course. 2nd Hiram Hurst, Daniel Hurst and Sarah Hurst withdraws their moticion for a letter of dismission.

June Fourth Saturday 1835. Church met at Mountain Creek and received William January and Clary January by letter.

July Second Saturday 1835. Church met at Big Spring and after worship proceeded to business. 1st Excommunicated Brother Miller's Fann for the charge taken up by the church at our May meeting. 2nd Joseph Neil dismist by letter. 3rd Sister Mary Peak and Sister Elizabeth Rose appointed to cite Sister Ann White to attend our next meeting on Friday before the 2nd Saturday in August next to answer a report that is circulation about her. 4th Appointed Brethren Samuel McBee Senior, Thomas Hurst, William Ritter, Hiram Hurst, Mercurius Cook, William Markum, Samuel McBee Junior and Christian Plank Deligets to the Association. Abraham Davis received by letter.

July Fourth Saturday 1835. Church must at Mountain Creek Meeting house and received Cinthey Dodson by letter. Rebecca Idel returned her letter of dismission. 2nd Mary Jinnings excommunicated for deviating from the truth. Martha Jinnings excommunicated for deviating from the truth.

August Friday before Second Saturday 1835. Church met at Big Spring and after worship proceeded to business. 1st Anna White excommunicated for the sin of whoredom. 2nd Brother Wesley Simmons and Brother Samuel Bunch appointed to cite Sister Mildred Cardwell to attend our next meeting. 3rd The record of John Evans appointment as an assistant clerk being neglected until now, the church agree now to make a record of it, and appoint him cleark of Big Spring Church. Nancy Malicote dismist by letter. 4th The contradiction existing between Brother Thompson Hurst and Bro. Henry Hill settled and ordered that Bro. Henry Hill's letter of dismission issue. Association letter read and approbated.

September Second Saturday 1835. Church met at Big Spring and after worship proceeded to business. 1st The reference relative to sister Mildred Cardwell deferd to next meeting. 2nd Prior Huddleston and Spencer Neil dismist by letter. 3rd The church members living west of Ball Creek petition to become a constitution which is granted. The following members dismist for a new constitution. Samuel McBee senior, William Lutrel, Daniel Arnwine, John Vance, William January, Caswell McBee, Francis Keen, Pleasant McBee, James Hodge, Laban McBee, Morris Adkins, Samuel McBee junior, John McBee, Clayburne McBee, Joseph January, John Lebo, Anna McBee, Susannah McBee, Peggy Keen, Susannah Adkins, Cinthy Dodson, Polly Hodge, Polly McBee, Nancy McBee, Susannah Lutril, Diannah Peak, Daniel Shumate, Juda Shumate, Clary January, Polly Holms, Rebekah Holms, Sarah Romine, Polly Vance, Polly Sellars, Nancy Idle, Rebeckah Inglebarger, Sarah McBee, Elizabeth Williams, Vancy Barnwell, Orlena Lebo, Pheby Phelps, Sarah Jinnings. Whole number 44.

November Second Saturday 1835. Church met at Big Spring and after worship proceeded to business. 1st From the report of Brother Andrew Hurst and Moses Ritter appointed to cite Sister Mildred Cardwell to attend at next meeting it appearing to the church that her excuse were sufficient for her not attending as she expressed a desire to attend her meetings and as such the reference is dismist.

December Second Saturday 1835. Church met at Big Spring and after worship proceeded to business. 1st Lewis Day excluded for leaveing the church in disorder in not applying to the church for a letter of dismission. 2nd Brethren Samuel Day and William Ritter appointed to cite Sister Delily Mitchel to attend next meeting.
