Church Record for the Year 1841

January Second Saturday 1841. Church met at Big Spring and after worship proceeded to business.
1st Received Sarah Hurst by letter.

February Second Saturday 1841. Church met at Big Spring.

March Second Saturday 1841. Church met at Big Spring and after worship proceeded to business.
1st The church agree to petition the Mouth of Barren Creek and Mountain Creek Churches for their ministerial labours to assist us in the ordaination of a Deacon in our church. Bro. Isaac Sanders appointed to bare our petition to Barren Creek Church and Bro. Samuel Day to Mountain Creek Church.

April Second Saturday 1841. Church met at Big Spring and after worship proceeded to business.
1st Appointed Brethren Samuel Day, Hirum Hurst, Daniel Arnwine, John Breeding and James Jonson to labour in a difficulty existing between Sister Rachel Huddleston and Bro. George Rose and make report to next meeting.

May Second Saturday 1841. Church met at Big Spring and after worship proceeded to business.
1st Received Nancy Lively by letter.
2nd The members appointed at last meeting to labour in a difficulty existing between Sister Rachel Huddleston and Bro. George Rose report that they gained a reconciliation between the sister and brother which satisfied the church.
3rd The church unanimously agree to call Brother Hirum Hurst to the ordaination of the Gospel. The church agrees to petition Mount Hebron and Mouth of Barren Creek Churches for their ministerial labourers to assist in the ordaination of Brother Hirum Hurst. The church appointed Brethren Daniel Arnwine and Jesse Evans to bare our petition to Mount Hebron Church and James Bunch, Isaac Sanders and Larkin Harrel to bare our petition to the Mouth of Barren Church.
Brother Samuel Day appointed to the office of Deacon by the church.

June Second Saturday 1841. Church met at Big Spring and after worship proceeded to business.
1st Received Sparkman and Sarah Smith and Catharine Bowers by letter.

July Second Saturday 1841. Church met at Big Spring and after worship proceeded to business.
1st Appointed Brethren James Bunch, Hirum Hurst and Samuel Day Deligets to the Association.
2nd Agree to renew our petition at our May meeting to our sister churches for the assistance of their ministerial labourers to assist us in the ordaination of our Brother Hirum Hurst to the Word and Gospel and to ordain our Brother Samuel Day to the office of deacon in our church.

August Friday before the Second Saturday. Church met at Big Spring and after worship proceeded to business.
1st Chose Isaac Long moderator for the day.
2nd The ministerial helpers petitioned for attended namely Isaac Long, James Long and William Williams. Brother Nathan S. McDowel being present the church called on him to set in the presbatry with the above named brethren who proceeded to the word and work of the ministry of the Gospel and also Brother Samuel Day to the office of deacon in the church.
3rd Red a petition from Old Town Creek Church praying us to send them our Bro. Hirum Hurst and Bro. James Jonson to attend them at their next meeting and as such we appoint them to attend accordingly, and also to send them a copy of our record respecting our takeing the office of Deaconship from William Ritter.
4th On Saturday a charge taken up by the church brought by Bro. William Janway against Sister Patsy Gibson for making a statement and then denying of it which is defered to next meeting. The two Sisters Sarah Hursts appointed to cite Sister Gibson to attend next meeting.
Sister Nancy Neil applied for a letter of dismission which is not granted. The motion continued to our next meeting in October.
The church after examination find no record of the suspention of William Ritter's Deaconship which they think ought to have been made and the church now agree to enter it on record and say that the office of Deacon was taken from him and the church have no recollection of the office of Deacon ever being restored to him again.

September Second Saturday 1841. Church met at Big Spring and after worship proceeded to business.
1st Received Joseph and Susannah Priddy by letter.
2nd The charge against Sister Patsy Gibson taken up and the difficulty settled.
3rd Received a petition from our sister church at Cedar Fork praying us to send them our Brother Hirum Hurst to assist in the ordaination of Mark Hurst and Tandy James to the Word and Work of the ministry of the Gospel. In answer to said petition we appoint our Brother Hirum Hurst to attend them accordingly.

October Second Saturday 1841. Church met at Big Spring and after worship proceeded to business.
1st A charge taken up against Sister Nancy Neil for sitting at the communion table of a church that is not in fellowship with our church nor we with them. The church appoint Brethren Samuel Day and James Jonson to converse with Sister Nancy Neil and to cite her to attend our next meeting.
2nd Received a petition from our sister church at Mount Hebron praying us to send them helps from our church to assist them in a difficulty existing among them. In answer to said petition we appoint our Brethren Samuel Day, James Bunch and Hirum Hurst to attend them on Friday before the 1st Saturday in November next.
Ransom Day and Sarah Day dismist by letter.

November Second Saturday 1841. Church met at Big Spring and after worship proceeded to business.
1st The reference relative to Sister Nancy Neil defered to next meeting and the Brethren James Jonson and Samuel Day appointed to cite her to attend next meeting.

December Second Saturday 1841. Church met at Big Spring and after worship proceeded to business.
1st. Nancy Neil excluded for the charge of sitting at the communion table of a church that is not in fellowship with our church nor we with them and for neglecting to obey the call of the church.
