Church Record for the Year 1848

January 2nd Saturday 1848. Church met at Big Spring and after preaching set for business.
1st Made way for the reception of members and received none.

February 2nd Saturday 1848. Church met at Big Spring and after preaching set for business.
1st Made way for the reception of members and received none.

March 2nd Saturday 1848. Church met at Big Spring and after preaching set for business.
1st Made way for the reception of members and received none.

April 2nd Saturday 1848. Church met at Big Spring and after prayer set for business.
1st Made way for the reception of members and received none.

May 2nd Saturday 1848. Church met at Big Spring and after preaching set for business.
1st Made way for the reception of members and received none.
2nd Received a petition from our sister church at the Head of Barren Creek for Brother Hiram Hurst to attend them on the fourth Saturday and Sunday in each month. Granted.
3rd Dismissed Brother Elder N. S. McDowell by letter.

June 2nd Saturday 1848. Church met at Big Spring and after preaching set for business.
1st Made way for the reception of members and received none.
The church agrees to cite Bro. William Marcum to attend his meeting and appointed Brethren William Sanders and Samuel Day to cite him to attend next meeting.

July 2nd Saturday 1848. Church met at Big Spring and after preaching set for business.
1st Made way for the reception of members and received two by letter to wit: Anna Hurst and Rebecca Hurst.
2nd Bro. William Marcum came forward and gave satisfaction.
3rd Received a petition from our sister Cedar Fork Church for our ministerial aid to attend their next meeting to assist them in the ordination a Deacon. Granted.
4th Appointed delegates to next Association: Brethren Samuel Day, Elder Hiram Hurst and Jesse Evans.

August 2nd Saturday 1848. Church met at Big Spring and after preaching set for business.
1st Made way for the reception of members and received none.
2nd Association letter read and approbated.
3rd A charge lifted against the two sisters Sarah Hursts for a contradiction between them. Laid over to next meeting.

September 2nd Saturday 1848. Church met at Big Spring and after preaching set for business.
1st Made way for the reception of members and received none.
2nd Took up the case of the two Sisters Sarah Hurst. Laid over until next meeting.

October 2nd Saturday 1848. Church met at Big Spring and after preaching set for business.
1st Made way for the reception of members and received Brother William C. McClelland by declaration.
2nd Took up the refference from last meeting against the two Sisters Sarah Hurst. Laid over untill next meeting by request of Will's Sarah Hurst.

November 2nd Saturday 1848. Church met at Big Spring and after preaching set for business.
1st Made way for the reception of members and received none.
2nd Took up the refference of last meeting against the two Sisters Sarah Hurst and exclude them from us while remaining in the belief they are in at present.

December 2nd Saturday 1848. Church met at Big Spring and after preaching set for business.
1st Made way for the reception of members and received none.
