Church Record for 1874

January first Saturday 1874. Church met at Big Spring. After preaching set for business.
First opend the door for the reception of members.
2nd The church agree to appoint Brother Pryer Hurst & Sister Rebecca Hurst to see Sister Judy Shumate to know the reason of her not attending her meetings
3rd Appoint Brother Nathan Hurst to see Sister Martha Essary to know the reason for her not attending her church meetings. Done by order of the church. Elder Nathan Hurst moderator. James Bunch clerk.

February first Saturday 1874. Church met at Big Spring. After preaching set for business.
1st Opend the door for the reception of members.
2nd Took up the case of Sister Shumate. Brother Pryer Hurst saw the sister. She stated that she had nothing against the church, that she was old & was not able to attend her meetings. Therefore the church was satisfide.
3rd The sister requested a letter of dismission which was granted.

March first Saturday 1874. Church met at Big Spring. After preaching set for business.
1st Opend the door for the reception of members & received Sister Nancy Ann Stansberry by experience.
2nd The church agrees to petition Mountain Creek Church and the Head of Dotsons creek Church for their ministerial & deacons aid to be with us at our May meeting on a sacramental occasion & appoint Brother Samuel Day and Brother Harrell Rosenbalm to Mountain Creek and Brother Prier Hurst & Brother Hiram Hurst to the Head of Dotsons Creek. By order of the church while in session. Nathan Hurst mod. James Bunch clerk.

March fourth Saturday 1874. Church met at Big Spring and after preaching set for business.
1st Opend the door for the reception of members and received Martha Devault by experience. On the Sunday following was baptized.
2nd Appoint Brother D. H. Rosenbalm clerk pro tem. Released Brother James Bunch from his clerkship by request and disability. Appointed Brother D. H. Rosenbalm clerk. This done by order of the church. Nancy Ann Stansberry was baptized with Martha Devault. D. H. Rosenbalm clerk pro tem. Nathan Hurst moderator.

May the first Saturday 1874. Church met at Big Spring. After preaching set for business.
1st Opened the door for the reception of members.
2nd Received a petition from our sister church at Mountain Creek requesting our ministers and deacons to set with and aid us in a sacramental occasion on the 3rd Saturday and Sunday in May which was granted. Done by order of the church. Mathew McDonnel moderator. D. H. Rosenbalm church clerk.

June the first Saturday 1874. Church met at Big Spring. After preaching set for business.
1st Opened the door for the reception of members.

July first Saturday 1874. Church met at Big Spring. After preaching set for business.
1st Opened the door for the reception of members.

August first Saturday 1874. Church met at Big Springs. After preaching set for business.
1st Opened the door for the reception of members.
2nd Agreed to letter and delegates to the Association and appointed these our brethren Eld. Nathan Hurst, Samuel Day, Jesse Evans, Hiram Hurst. Hurst to bear the same.

September first Saturday 1874. Church met at big Springs. After preaching set for business.
1st Opened the door for the reception of members.
2nd Agreed to delegate Eld. Mark Hurst to the Association.
3rd Received a letter from our sister church at the Head of Dotsons Creek inviting our ministers and deacons to assist in a sacramental occasion, which was granted.
4th Received a request from our sister church at Union inviting our ministers and deacons to visit them on a sacramental occasion, which was granted, and Sunday following the church was called to order. The Association letter was read and received.
5th Agreed to change our next meeting to the 2nd on account of a sacrament meeting at Dotsons Creek. Done by order of the church while in session. D. H. Rosenbalm ch. clk. Nathan Hurst mod.

October 2nd Saturday 1874. Church met at Big Spring. After preaching set for business.
Opend the door for the reception of members.

Nov. first Saturday 1874. Church met at Big Spring. After preaching set for business.
1st Opend the door for the reception of members.
2nd Moved and seconded that the covenant and rules of decorum be read which was done.

December first Saturday 1874. Church met at Big Spring. After preaching set for business.
Opend the door for the reception of members.
